Indians rough up Royals P Danny Duffy in first inning

(12:42 am ET) Royals pitcher Danny Duffy had a disastrous start in Wednesday night's 10-3 loss to the Indians. 

Duffy only lasted one inning and allowed four earned runs on six hits. He didn't record any strikeouts and didn't walk anyone. This is his first loss of the season as he's now 2-1. Duffy's ERA is 3.86. 

Duffy's next start is projected for May 11 against the Rangers. 


Indians P Carlos Carrasco strikes out 6 against Royals

(12:39 am ET) Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco struck out six batters during Wednesday night's 10-3 win over the Royals. 

Carrasco went seven innings and allowed three earned runs. Carrasco threw 98 pitches, gave up five hits and walked two batters. He improved to 4-2 and now has an ERA of 4.71 this season. 

Carrasco's next start is projected for May 12 against the Cardinals. 


White Sox OF Conor Gillaspie hits first homer of season

(12:28 am ET) White Sox infielder Conor Gillaspie hit his first home run of the season in Wednesday night's 7-6 win over the Tigers. 

Gillaspie hit a solo shot to right field on a 2-0 pitch in the second inning. He finished the game 1 for 3 and is now hitting a slash line of .242/.288/.419. 


Mets prospect Domingo Tapia to undergo Tommy John surgery

(12:28 am ET) Mets pitching prospect Domingo Tapia is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery, reports ESPNNewYork.com.

Tapia had been pitching out of the bullpen in the team's minor-league system.


White Sox OF Melky Cabrera hits homer, gets 4 RBI in win

(12:26 am ET) White Sox outfielder Melky Cabrera hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning of Wednesday night's 7-6 win over the Tigers. 

Cabrera went yard to right field on a 2-1 pitch that scored Micah Johnson and Adam Eaton. It's Cabrera's first home run of the season. He finished the game with four RBI as he also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. 

Cabrera is now hitting .277/.330/.330 for the season. 


Tigers DH Victor Martinez hits first homer of the season

(12:21 am ET) Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez hit a two-run homer in the third inning of Thursday's 7-6 loss to the White Sox. 

Martinez took an 0-2 pitch deep to left field and drove in Miguel Cabrera as well. It's Martinez's first home run of the season. 

Martinez went 2 for 4 with four RBI in the game. He hit a sacrifice fly for a run in the first inning and hit an RBI single that scored Jose Iglesias in the eighth. He's now hitting .217/.320/.265 for the year. 


White Sox P David Robertson earns save in win over Tigers

(12:16 am ET) White Sox reliever David Robertson picked up his fifth save of the season in Wednesday night's 7-6 win over the Tigers. 

Robertson gave up two hits in the ninth inning but managed to get out of the jam. He opened the inning by striking out J.D. Martinez. Robertson has yet to give up an earned run this season. 


Tigers P Alfredo Simon gives up 3 runs in no-decision

(12:12 am ET) Tigers pitcher Alfredo Simon allowed three earned runs in a no-decision during Wednesday night's 7-6 loss to the White Sox. 

Simon went five innings and walked four batters while striking out two. He allowed five hits and threw 103 pitches. Simon now holds an ERA of 3.44. His next start is projected for May 12 against the Twins. 


White Sox P Chris Sale allows 5 runs, strikes out 6 in no-decision

(12:09 am ET) White Sox pitcher Chris Sale gave up five runs and earned a no-decision in Wednesday night's 7-6 win over the Tigers. 

Sale went 5 1/3 innings and managed to strike out six batters in the process. However, he also walked five. Sale's ERA is now 5.93 for the season. 

His next start is projected for May 12 against the Brewers. 


Cardinals P Lance Lynn allows five runs Wednesday

(12:04 am ET) Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn struggled during the opening frame of Wednesday's game and he never recovered in route to a 6-5 loss to the Cubs.

Lynn allowed two runs on four hits in the opening frame. He finished the game allowing five runs on eight hits over six innings. He also struck out six batters and walked two. He received his third loss of the season for his effort.

His main mistake was a two-run home run to Anthony Rizzo in the third inning. As a result of the performance, his ERA rose from 3.07 to 3.82.

His next expected start is scheduled for Tuesday at Cleveland.
