He is scheduled to make one more rehab assignment before manager Ron Roenicke decides to bring him back to the majors or option him down to Triple-A.
"It's certainly simpler," Roenicke said. "If we bring somebody up, we've got to make a move, we've got to send somebody out. That's what we're trying to avoid doing."

Wilhelmsen, who entered the game in the eighth inning, served up a solo home run to Albert Pujols and was charged with his fifth blown save of the season. He yielded one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one in 1 2/3 innings pitched in a 3-2 win in extras.

Dominguez took Tom Gorzelanny deep for a grand slam in the seventh inning. He also drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the second and finished 2 for 3 with a run scored and five RBI in a 10-1 victory.
Dominguez has gone 5 for 14 with eight RBI over his last four games played. He is hitting .236 with 10 homers and 40 RBI in 246 at-bats.

Papelbon allowed a two-out single in the ninth inning, but retired the next batter he faced to close the game. He needed just 10 pitches to earn the save, his 14th of the season.
Papelbon now has a 1.69 ERA, while ranking seventh in the National League in saves.

Lyles surrendered a run-scoring single to Scooter Gennett in the third for his only damage of the night. He yielded one run on seven hits while striking out five in seven innings pitched in a 10-1 victory.
Lyles has permitted two runs or fewer in each of his last seven starts. He has lowered his ERA from 6.63 to 3.22 over that span. He is scheduled to make his next start Sunday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Romo allowed a two-out single in the game, but quickly shut the door with a strikeout of Logan Forsythe to end the game, his second of the outing. Romo needed just 14 pitches to finish the game.
Romo is now 17 of 20 in save situations, with a 2.63 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings of work.

Cashner scattered 10 hits in the game, letting in three runs in 6 2/3 innings. He actually exited the game in line for a loss, as the Padres went down 3-2 in the seventh inning, before battling back in the eighth.
Cashner struck out six batters in the outing, matching his high for the season, while walking just one. He threw 67 of 107 pitches for strikes, while raising his ERA to 3.56.
Cashner is set to make his next start Sunday against the Dodgers.
