Donnie Veal outrighted to Triple-A
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(4:25 pm ET) The White Sox opened up a spot on the 40-man roster Saturday by outrighting Donnie Veal to Triple-A Charlotte Saturday. Veal was designated for assignment earlier in the week, after posting a 6.00 ERA in six innings of work.

Bad luck follows Jordan Zimmermann in loss to Cardinals
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:23 pm ET) Nationals starter Jordan Zimmermann pitched well enough to win, but lost instead Saturday against St. Louis.

He was plagued by poor fielding in a three-run second inning. An error by third baseman Anthony Rendon paved the way, but Zimmermann surrendered a single to eighth hitter Tony Cruz and a double to opposing pitcher Lance Lynn before recovering. He settled down to pitch shutout ball until the seventh.

Zimmermann yielded just one earned run on seven hits in seven innings with two walks and six strikeouts. He will attempt to nail down his second win of the season Thursday against visiting San Diego.

Felipe Paulino heading to the disabled list
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(4:23 pm ET) White Sox pitcher Felipe Paulino is heading to the disabled list, according to MLB.com.

Felipe has posted an 11.29 ERA over four starts to begin the year, and complained of soreness after Friday's start. Paulino was placed on the disabled list due to rotator cuff inflammation. He'll be replaced in the rotation by Andre Rienzo. Paulino missed all of last season while recovering from arm surgery.

Andre Rienzo gets the call Saturday
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(4:21 pm ET) As expected, the White Sox recalled pitcher Andre Rienzo from Triple-A Charlotte Saturday, to replace Felipe Paulino on the active roster.

Rienzo's role has not been announced, but it seems likely he will replace Paulino in the rotation after he was placed on the disabled list. Rienzo was used as a starter for 10 games last season, posting a 4.82 ERA with 38 strikeouts and 28 walks in 56 innings of work.

Bryce Harper pulled for lack of hustle
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(4:15 pm ET) Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was pulled from Saturday's game against the Cardinals, but it wasn't because of any lingering issues with a quad injury. Instead, he was benched by manager Matt Williams, who was displeased with Harper's effort following a sixth-inning groundout.

"The inability to run 90 feet," was Williams' response, when asked why Harper was pulled from the game.

Harper finished the game 0 for 3, and it will be interesting to watch how first-year manager Williams handles this situation moving forward.

Dioner Navarro drives in three Saturday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(4:15 pm ET) Blue Jays catcher Dioner Navarro drove in three runs Saturday against the Indians.

Navarro got things started in the first inning, singling home a run with two outs. He recorded outs in his next two at-bats before hitting a two-run single in the seventh. Navarro finished 2 for 4, with zero runs scored and three RBI.

Rosenthal shaky again in nailing down save
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:14 pm ET) Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal continued to struggle and save Saturday. He gave up yet another run, this time against the Nationals, but escaped to earn his fifth save.

Rosenthal hurled a hitless ninth, but a walk, balk and groundout brought in a run before he fanned Jayson Werth to end it. He has given up six earned runs in the last seven innings covering six appearances.

Corey Kluber's struggles continue Saturday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(4:08 pm ET) Indians pitcher Corey Kluber turned in another rough start Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Kluber managed to go 6 2/3 innings, but allowed five runs, four of which were earned. He struggled with control, allowing three walks, and only struck out three batters. Most of his struggles came early, as Kluber gave up three runs in the first two innings. He held the Indians scoreless over the next four innings before a two-run single ended his day.

Kluber's record dropped to 1-2 following the game.

Lance Lynn handcuffs Nationals for fourth win
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:07 pm ET) Cardinals starter Lance Lynn became the first four-game winner in the National League and remained unbeaten Saturday with a 4-3 win in Washington.

Lynn made it through just 5 2/3 innings, but gave up only one run on a Danny Espinosa home run in the fifth. He yielded five hits, walked three and fanned five.

The right-hander ran his scoreless streak to 15 innings before yielding the home run to Espinosa. He will try to earn his fifth victory Thursday against the Mets.

Carlos Beltran back at it Saturday
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(4:03 pm ET) Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays, after missing the team's previous game with a wrist injury. He is batting third in the designated hitter spot, after he was cleared to play by an MRI which showed no structural damage.
