Twins promote prospect Eddie Rosario from Triple-A

(4:22 pm ET) The Twins promoted outfield prospect Eddie Rosario from Triple-A Rochester on Monday after placing outfielder Oswaldo Arcia (hip) on the 15-day disabled list. Rosario is considered the Twins' ninth-best prospect by MLB.com and 10th-best prospect byBaseball America.

Rosario is not off to a great start offensively at Triple-A Rochester. The 23-year-old is batting .242 with one triple, two doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI in 23 games. 

Rosario has totaled a .291/.340/.480/.820 slash line over six seasons in the minors.


Carpenter, Wong in Cards' lineup for Monday, Molina out

(4:22 pm ET) Although he exited Sunday's game with light headness, third basman Matt Carpenter is in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Monday, batting second.

Kolten Wong received a rest and was not in Sunday's lineup for the Cards but returns Monday, playing second base and batting seventh.

Struggling catcher Yadier Molina, who's been dealing with knee soreness, will not start Monday as Tony Cruz gets the nod at catcher and will hit eighth.

Astros OF Colby Rasmus out of lineup with lefty on the mound

(4:19 pm ET) With left-hander Ross Detwiler on the mound for the Rangers, Astros outfielder Colby Rasmus was held out of the starting lineup by manager A.J. Hinch on Monday, the team announced. Rasmus has struggled against lefties, hitting just .211 in 19 at-bats against southpaws this season.

Overall, however, Rasmus has been hitting well. In his last 10 games, he his batting .270 with three home runs and seven RBI. Robbie Grossman received the start in left field on Monday. 


Twins place OF Oswaldo Arcia (hip) on 15-day DL

(4:18 pm ET) Twins outfielder Oswaldo Arcia was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday due to a right hip flexor strain. Arcia suffered the injury Sunday against the White Sox.

The injury comes at a bad time for Arcia, who is finally starting to turn the corner offensively. He has hit safely in six straight games, batting .450 (9 for 20) with one home run and three RBI in that span. Arcia had a .184 average in his first 13 games.


Mets set to promote catcher Johnny Monell

(4:13 pm ET) The Mets will promote catcher Johnny Monell prior to Tuesday's game against the Orioles. It is unknown what the corresponding move will be.

The 29-year-old Monell is batting .397 (23 for 58) with a .455 on-base percentage, .638 slugging percentage and 1.092 OPS in 17 games for Triple-A Las Vegas. He also has two doubles, four home runs and 15 RBI.


Blue Jays GM on Jose Bautista: 'He is still a little sore'

(4:09 pm ET) Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista was in the starting lineup as the designated hitter for the eighth consecutive game on Monday, the team announced. Bautista is still battling a sore shoulder that has been nagging him for the last couple of weeks.

General Manager Alex Anthopoulos indicated that Bautista is still sore and the team will check his status at the end of the three-game series against the Yankees. Bautista sat out five games earlier this season due to the shoulder injury. Since returning to the lineup, he is hitting .333 (8 for 24) with a home run and seven RBI.

Anthopoulos also mentioned that Bautista won't start throwing until later on in the week, and doesn't expect to be back in right field until next week at the earliest, according to SportsNet.ca. 


Blue Jays' Michael Saunders out of lineup following knee drain

(4:07 pm ET) Blue Jays outfielder Michael Saunders is out of the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees after having his knee drained, general manager Alex Anthopoulos said before the game per SportsNet.

Saunders was dealing with fluid in his knee and needed to have it drained. Saunders missed time early in the season while recovering from knee surgery. He is available to play, according to Anthopoulos.

Saunders is hitting .222 with thre RBI in 27 at-bats this season.


Report: Twins promoting prospect Eddie Rosario to majors

(4:04 pm ET) The Twins are promoting prospect Eddie Rosario to the majors, a source told the Pioneer Press. Rosario is considered the Twins' ninth-best prospect by MLB.com and 10th-best prospect by Baseball America.

Rosario is not off to a great start offensively at Triple-A Rochester, however, it appears the Twins need outfield depth as Oswaldo Arcia and Jordan Schafer are dealing with injuries.

The 23-year-old Rosario is batting .242 with one triple, two doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI in 23 games. 


Report: Dodgers to bring up pitcher Daniel Coulombe

Coulombe is a left-handed pitcher, who failed to make the team out of spring training.


Brandon Guyer out of Rays lineup on Monday

(3:58 pm ET) Left fielder Brandon Guyer is not in the Rays' starting lineup for Monday's game. 

David DeJesus replaces Guyer in left field, his third start in left this season. He'll bat fifth in the order. 

Replacing DeJesus at designated hitter is Joey Butler, who starts his second straight game since getting called up over the weekend. Butler is hitting eighth in the order.
