Twins to promote SP Tyler Duffey for Wednesday start

(1:03 pm ET) The placement of Tommy Milone on the disabled list will allow the Twins to promote Tyler Duffey from the minors and start him Wednesday in Toronto. It will be his major league debut.

The 24-year-old Duffey has been lights-out at the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season, compiling a 2.66 ERA and allowing just 118 hits and 30 walks in 132 innings with 117 strikeouts.


Yankees SP Ivan Nova ready to roll Sunday

(12:57 pm ET) As expected, Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova will make his Sunday start against the host White Sox. He was considered iffy with an arm issue, but declared himself ready to go Wednesday.

Nova has been solid in six outings this year with a 3-3 mark and 3.38 ERA. But he has yet to pitch more than 6 2/3 innings.


Yankees put P Diego Moreno on DL, promote P Branden Pinder

(12:50 pm ET) The Yankees have announced that right elbow inflammation has reliever Diego Moreno on the 15-day disabled list and that they have recalled fellow right-hander Branden Pinder from Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre.

Moreno has been inconsistent in his four appearances this season and owns a 5.23 ERA. Pinder, who had been sent down just last week, has posted a 2.92 ERA in 11 games for the Yankees this season.


Dodgers give Yasiel Puig day off Sunday

(12:45 pm ET) Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was not in Sunday's lineup against the Angels, the team announced.

Puig was replaced in right field by Andre Ethier, who will bat fourth. Puig is batting .213 with three home runs and 12 RBI over his last 14 games.


Diamondbacks CF A.J. Pollock down again Sunday

(12:40 pm ET) Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock remains sidelined Sunday in Houston with a hamstring injury sustained on Friday.

Ender Inciarte is again manning the position.

Pollock was hitting well before going down. He racked up five hits in his last three games to raise his average to .305.


Dodgers option Yimi Garcia to make room for Mat Latos

(12:37 pm ET) Dodgers pitcher Yimi Garcia was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday, the team announced. The move was made to make room for pitcher Mat Latos on the roster, who was recently acquired in a trade with the Marlins.

Garcia is 3-2 with a 3.99 ERA over 38 1/3 innings.


SP Clayton Richard up, C Tyler Teagarden down for Cubs

(12:31 pm ET) The Cubs have demoted catcher Taylor Teagarden to Triple-A Iowa to make room for left-hander Clayton Richard, who starts Sunday in Milwaukee, per the Chicago Sun-Times.

Richard pitched three times for Chicago in July with two starts. A strong outing was followed by two poor ones and he ended up back in the minors with a 5.40 ERA.


A's option R.J. Alvarez to make room for Felix Doubront

(12:28 pm ET) The Athletics optioned pitcher R.J. Alvarez to Triple-A on Sunday, the team announced. The move was made to accommodate Felix Doubront on the roster, who was recently acquired in a trade with the Blue Jays.

Alvarez has a 12.54 ERA over 9 1/3 innings, while Doubront has a 4.76 ERA over 22 2/3 innings.


SP Tyler Wilson up with Orioles for likely Monday start

(12:24 pm ET) The Orioles have promoted starting pitcher Tyler Wilson from Triple-A Norfolk. He will almost certainly start in place of injured Chris Tillman in Oakland on Monday, per MASNSports.com

Wilson pitched in five games for Baltimore earlier in the year and performed well, posting a 2.12 ERA despite just four strikeouts in 17 innings. He is 5-5 with a 3.05 ERA at the minor league level this season.


Rangers place P Tanner Scheppers on DL, promote P Phil Klein

(12:18 pm ET) The Rangers have placed reliever Tanner Scheppers on the disabled list with knee inflammation, the Dallas Morning News has reported.

The move forced them to promote fellow pitcher Phil Klein from Triple-A Round Rock. He had been sent down Wednesday.

Scheppers has been scuffling recently. He has allowed 10 earned runs on 13 hits in his last 7 1/3 innings pitched.
