Juan Perez shipped to Triple-A
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(6:31 pm ET) Giants outfielder Juan Perez was optioned to Triple-A Fresno Wednesday to make room for the activation of Jeremy Affeldt from the disable list.

Perez appeared in seven games for the Giants, going hitless in eight at-bats.

Angels place Kole Calhoun on DL, call up Brennan Boesch
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(6:29 pm ET) The Angels placed outfielder Kole Calhoun on the 15-day disabled list with an ankle injury Wednesday and recalled outfielder Brennan Boesch from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Calhoun twisted the ankle Tuesday trying to beat a ground ball to first base. He's hit .222/.276/.426 with two home runs, four RBI and two stolen bases in 54 at-bats.

Boesch has turned in similar statistics to Calhoun at the Triple-A level this season, hitting .250/.308/.479 with two home runs, nine RBI and one stolen base in 48 at-bats. He had just 51 at-bats with the Yankees last season after seeing regular action with the Tigers over the previous three seasons.

Bryce Harper scratched with quad tightness
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(6:24 pm ET) Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup, due to tightness in his left quad. This is an injury he has been fighting through over the last few days, and will likely just get some time off to let it heal. He is day to day moving forward.

Everth Cabrera returns to lineup Wednesday
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(6:21 pm ET) Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera is back in the lineup for Wednesday against the Rockies, after being a late scratch Tuesday with a sore right knee. He was spotted with ice on the knee after Tuesday's game, but appears to have improved enough to play through the injury.

Coco Crisp remains out of lineup Wednesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(6:19 pm ET) Athletics center fielder Coco Crisp is not in the starting lineup Wednesday for the third straight game.

Crisp has been dealing with hamstring tightness, and with the team off Thursday, he'll get another couple days to rest the injury before potentially returning for the weekend series against the Astros.

Everth Cabrera returns to Wednesday's lineup
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(6:15 pm ET) Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera is back in the lineup for Wednesday against the Rockies, after being a late scratch Tuesday with a sore right knee. He was spotted with ice on the knee after Tuesday's game, but appears to have improved enough to play through the injury.

Manager concerned about Carlos Santana remarks
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(6:10 pm ET) Terry Francona expressed concern Wednesday about a remark made by Carlos Santana in which he claimed that juggling positions has affected him at the plate.

"If that's how he feels, I'm going to have to sit down and talk to him," Francona told WTAM-AM.

Santana plays mostly third base for the Indians, but also serves as the backup catcher. He has historically hit better when he's been the designated hitter.

Koji Uehara throws successful bullpen session Wednesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(6:08 pm ET) Red Sox pitcher Koji Uehara completed a 34-pitch bullpen session without incident Wednesday, the Boston Herald reports.

Uehara has been sidelined by shoulder stiffness, but testing earlier this week revealed no structural damage. He won't pitch in Wednesday's game, but he could be available for Thursday's series finale against the White Sox.

Weather pushes back Shane Victorino's rehab again
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(6:05 pm ET) Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino won't start his rehab assignment Wednesday as inclement weather has caused another postponement for Double-A Portland. He is expected to begin his rehab assignment Friday or Saturday, likely with Triple-A Pawtucket, the Boston Herald reports.

Victorino is recovering from a right hamstring strain, and it's possible the weather delays could cause his return to the Red Sox to be pushed back a day or two. He has yet to play in a game this season.

Nate Jones nowhere near return to mound
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5:59 pm ET) White Sox right-hander Nate Jones is not close to beginning a throwing program, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, which further reported that he still looked uncomfortable walking Wednesday in the clubhouse.

Robin Ventura said there was no timetable for Jones to start throwing. He was placed on the disabled list on April 4, but will certainly not be back when eligible.
