Mariners' Nelson Cruz hits in 15th straight game

(12:29 am ET) Mariners right fielder Nelson Cruz went 2 for 4 in Tuesday's win over Colorado. 

He walked once and hit his 31st home run of the season.

Cruz hit in his 15th straight game, the longest current hit streak in MLB. He's hitting .438 over the streak.


Mariners' Vidal Nuno takes no-decision in first start of year

(12:22 am ET) Mariners pitcher Vidal Nuno started his first game of the season, after 21 relief appearances, Tuesday against Colorado. 

Nuno started 28 games last season. He lasted 3 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on five hits. After allowing three home runs all season coming into the game, he gave up two homers on Tuesday. 

Nuno left with the score tied and took a no-decision. 


Jon Gray takes no-decision in MLB debut

(12:18 am ET) Rockies starter Jon Gray made his MLB debut, Tuesday against Seattle. 

Gray allowed three runs, two of them earned, in four innings and took a no-decision after leaving with the score tied. 

Gray allowed five hits and walked two, while striking out four. 


Yankees' Brian McCann dealing with pull in leg

(12:16 am ET) Yankees catcher Brian McCann suffered a pull in his left leg during Tuesday's win over the Red Sox and is uncertain if he can play in Wednesday's contest, reports NJ.com.

"I'm hoping I wake up [Wednesday] and it's not stiff," he said.

McCann sustained the injury in the eighth inning while attempting to block a ball at the plate. McCann stayed in the game, but moved to first base. He finished the game 2 for 5 with four RBI.


Brewers option Preston Guilmet; recall Tyler Cravy

(12:09 am ET) The Brewers sent pitcher Preston Guilmet down to Triple-A after Tuesday's game, the team announced. Guilmet produced a 11.05 ERA over 7 1/3 innings this season.

With Guilmet at Triple-A, the team recalled pitcher Tyler Cravy, who had a 3.60 ERA over 15 innings of work earlier this season.


Astros' Preston Tucker leaves game after HBP

(8/4/2015) Astros left fielder Preston Tucker left Tuesday's game due to an arm contusion after being hit by a pitch, per MLB.com

Tucker was hit in his first plate appearance, in the second inning. He remained in the game, going 1 for 2 in his next two times up. He also made two plays in the field before leaving for a pinch hitter in the eighth inning. 


Shawn Tolleson saves 20th game of year for Rangers

(8/4/2015) Rangers closer Shawn Tolleson pitched a scoreless ninth inning to protect a one-run lead against Houston on Tuesday. 

Tolleson saved his 20th game of the year and converted his seventh straight save opportunity. 

Tolleson allowed his first hit in three appearances and his first walk in four. He struck out two batters. 


Giants 3B Matt Duffy goes 4 for 5 in win on Tuesday

(8/4/2015) Giants third baseman Matt Duffy continues to be a pleasant surprise, as he contributed four hits, an RBI and a run scored in the 8-3 win over the Braves on Tuesday. His biggest hit was an RBI double in the eighth inning to tie the game up 3-3. 

Duffy keeps on rolling at the plate, as he is now batting .381 with three doubles, a homer and seven RBI over his past 10 games.


Brewers RP Francisco Rodriguez notches save Tuesday

(8/4/2015) Brewers pitcher Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his 24th save of the season during Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Padres. Rodriguez also struck out one during the appearance, which lowered his ERA to 1.42.

Rodriguez has converted all 24 of his save opportunities this season.


Astros' Dan Straily suffers first loss of year

(8/4/2015) Astros Dan Straily suffered his first loss of the year, Tuesday against Texas. 

Called up from Triple-A to make his third start of the season, Straily four earned runs on six hits, both season highs. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, a season low and struck out a season-low three batters.
