Cardinals RF Jason Heyward suffers apparent leg injury Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3:29 pm ET) Cardinals right fielder Jason Heyward suffered an apparent leg injury in Sunday's game against the Brewers and was removed from action, MLB.com reports.

Heyward appeared to suffer the injury on a play in the corner of right field on a triple by Gerardo Parra. He was visited by a trainer and manager Mike Matheny before being replaced by Jon Jay. Heyward was 0 for 2 in the game, dropping his line to .208/.230/.361 with two home runs and four RBI in 72 at-bats.

The Cardinals are set to open a series against the Phillies at home Monday.

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3:27 pm ET) Rays pitcher Alex Colome made the second start of his minor-league injury rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Sunday.

Colome earned the win, allowing one run over six innings. He gave up four hits and walked no one, striking out six.

Colome threw 45 strikes in 63 pitches and lowered his ERA to 1.93

Report: Hamilton trade from Angels to Rangers could happen Sunday
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(3:22 pm ET) The Angels could finalize trading outfielder Josh Hamilton to the Rangers on Sunday, according to a report from MLB.com

This has been in the works over the past few days as the Angels seemed inclined to move on from Hamilton.

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3:22 pm ET) Avisail Garcia hit a two-out walk-off RBI single to give the White Sox a win in the completion of a game suspended from Friday night.

Garcia went 2 for 5, lifting his average to .274. His game winning RBI was his fourth run batted in this season.

Royals' Kelvin Herrera suffers first loss of year
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3:03 pm ET) Royals reliever Kelvin Herrera suffered his first loss of the year on Sunday, in the completion of a suspended game from Friday night.

Herrera entered to start the ninth inning and got two quick outs, including a strikeout. He then allowed two walks, a wild pitch and a walk-off single to take the loss. It was the first run allowed this season by Herrera, in eight appearances spanning seven and two thirds innings.

Giants 1B Brandon Belt to see more time in left field
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3:02 pm ET) Giants first baseman Brandon Belt will see more time in left field as manager Bruce Bochy looks for a way to get Belt and catchers Buster Posey and Andrew Susac in the lineup at the same time, CSN Bay Area reports.

Belt drew a start in left field last Sunday for the first time since 2012, and it appears he'll see more work in the outfield moving forward. However, the impending return of right fielder Hunter Pence could also create a playing-time crunch between Belt, Susac and outfielder Nori Aoki.

Cubs' Maddon pleased with Addison Russell's plate approach
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2:58 pm ET) Cubs manager Joe Maddon is pleased with the approach of rookie second baseman Addison Russell at the plate, MLB.com reports.

"I think, in general, we're seeing a lot of pitches," Maddon said. "That's not a bad thing. Every hitter goes up there and we're just not up there hacking, we're working mindful at-bats and that's fun to watch."

Maddon indicated that Russell, who is just 3 for 18 with 10 strikeouts and no walks, is still getting his feet on the ground.

Cubs' Maddon: Jorge Soler 'has to organize his strike zone'
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2:51 pm ET) Cubs right fielder Jorge Soler has struck out 17 times over his last eight games after managing just nine strikeouts in his first eight games, but manager Joe Maddon says there's nothing wrong with his swing, MLB.com reports.

"He was doing really well in the beginning and then he started to expand [his zone]," Maddon said of Soler. "There's nothing wrong with his swing -- he just has to organize his strike zone.

"He's a little bit eager," Maddon said. "He's had a lot of guys in scoring position. He's also done some really nice damage."

Soler has gone hitless in three straight games heading into Sunday's action, giving him a .273/.338/.439 line with two home runs and nine RBI in 66 at-bats.

Cubs' Joe Maddon praises Kris Bryant's batting eye
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2:47 pm ET) Cubs manager Joe Maddon had positive things to say about the batting eye of rookie third baseman Kris Bryant, who has eight walks in his first eight games, MLB.com reports.

"They're coming after him pretty hard right now," Maddon said of the way opponents are approaching Bryant. "To his credit, he's not swinging at everything, he's taking his walks. If he continues to do that, he'll continue to hit at a high pace. For right now, he's doing a nice job of not biting [at pitches out of the zone], and they keep trying to expand the strike zone, and he's not doing it."

Bryant has hit .379/.526/.517 with four doubles and seven RBI in 29 at-bats over his first eight games.

David Robertson picks up win in relief for White Sox
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(2:43 pm ET) David Robertson moved to 2-0 with a win over Kansas City in the completion of a suspended game on Sunday. The two teams played the ninth inning of Friday's game, which was postponed due to rain.

Robertson pitched a scoreless, hitless inning, striking out three. He was the pitcher of record when the White Sox put across the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
