Astros' Brad Peacock struggles in spring debut Sunday

(4:30 pm ET) Astros pitcher Brad Peacock surrendered four runs (three earned) on two hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning while striking out two in his spring debut against the Yankees Sunday.

Peacock has been dealing with a hip injury but was able to pitch in a minor-league intrasquad game Tuesday before making his debut Sunday.


Nationals' Casey Janssen to get MRI on shoulder

(4:27 pm ET) Nationals pitcher Casey Janssen will get an MRI on his right shoulder, MASN Sports reported. 

Janssen will undergo the test on Monday.

Janssen is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA this spring. 


J.P. Arencibia misses Sunday's game for Orioles

(4:22 pm ET) Orioles catcher J.P. Arencibia missed Sunday's game, because he's still bothered by the strained right flexor mass, per MASN Sports.

Arencibia has been sidelined since Thursday with the injury. He was on the team's travel list for Sunday's road game and was thought to have a chance to return.  


Braves' Shelby Miller tosses six one-hit innings Sunday

(4:22 pm ET) Braves pitcher Shelby Miller allowed one earned run on just one hit and one walk in six innings while striking out four in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Pirates.

Miller's longest outing of the spring was also his best, though he was unable to turn in his first spring performance with no walks. He has posted a 3.44 ERA and 14:7 K:BB ratio in 18 1/3 innings.


Phillies likely to open with Ben Revere in LF, Odubel Herrera in CF
(4:15 pm ET) Phillies manager Ryan Sandberg said Ben Revere will most likely remain in left field and Odubel Herrera will be in center on opening day, reports The News Journal.

Revere and Herrera were shifted to their respective outfield positions less than two weeks ago and it appears the move will carry over into the regular season.

For the spring, Revere his hitting .170 with in 53 at-bats while Herrera is hitting .346 in 52 at-bats.


Reds' Devin Mesoraco exits game with quad cramp

(4:15 pm ET) Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was removed from Sunday's game due to a cramp in his left quad, the team announced.

Mesoraco came up lame while rounding third base. He finished the game 0 for 2 at the plate and is just 6 for 28 with two home runs this spring.


Athletics' Sam Fuld to use face protection device

(4:06 pm ET) Athletics' outfielder Sam Fuld will begin using a device to protect his face at the plate. Fuld took batting practice wearing an attachment for his batting helmet that protects the left side of his face, per SFGate.

Fuld suffered an injured jaw after being hit by a throw while running the bases. 

Fuld returned to the lineup on Tuesday but initially declined to use the device. He tried it on Sunday after veering away from a throw while running to first in Saturday's game. 


Phillies' Chase Utley homers twice Sunday

(4:05 pm ET) Phillies second baseman Chase Utley went 2 for 2 with a walk and two home runs in Sunday's 4-4 tie with the Tigers.

Utley has been dealing with an ankle sprain this spring but has looked excellent at the plate, going 9 for 24 heading into Sunday's game before smacking his first two home runs of Grapefruit League play.


Mariners' Alex Jackson scratched with shoulder soreness

(4:03 pm ET) Mariners outfield prospect Alex Jackson was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to minor shoulder soreness, MLB.com reports. Jackson is 2 for 9 with one home run this spring.

Joe Benson has good chance to make Braves' roster

(4:00 pm ET) Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said that outfielder Joe Benson has a good shot to make the team's Opening Day roster. 

Gonzalez praised Benson's "energy and passion", per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"We are looking for a right-handed outfielder that can play a little bit of center, and he comes over and he keeps doing something good," Gonzalez said. “I got on the phone yesterday with (assistant GM John Coppolella) and said 'I’d like to see Benson more.' It doesn’t cost us anything, and you can bring him back and forth anytime we want. So Benson’s here and we get a chance to play him."
