by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(3:09 pm ET) Phillies pitcher Chad Billingsley may not be healthy just yet, but the team expects to slot him into the starting rotation once he is, reports MLB.com.

Billingsley, who will start the season on the disabled list with an elbow injury, hopes to return to the field before the end of April. He has yet to throw in a spring training game while recovering from multiple elbow surgeries.

Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp unsure for Opening Day
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(3:01 pm ET) Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp is still battling to get back on the field from an elbow injury and is uncertain for Opening Day next week, reports MLB.com.

"I don't know," Crisp said when asked.

Crisp was cleared to play in a minor-league game for Tuesday after missing a week with the injury. The veteran is just 2 for 15 during spring training.

Rangers pitcher Neftali Feliz feeling strong as season approaches
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2:46 pm ET) Rangers relief pitcher Neftali Feliz hasn't had the most stellar of spring trainings this season. Feliz has posted a 3.86 ERA in seven appearances this spring allowing three runs with five strikeouts. Manager Jeff Banister has talked with Feliz about his last few outings and thinks he's on track, reports the Dallas Morning News.

"He says he feels good and is right here he needs to be," Banister said. "Closers are different cats. Some of that get all hopped up on and are boiling all the time and some have ice water in their veins. I haven't seen him yet in a real high octane situation yet to get a feel."

Chad Gaudin will remain in Arizona to start the season
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2:37 pm ET) Dodgers pitcher Chad Gaudin is still in rest period as he recovers from a phrenectomy to relieve nerve pressure. He will begin the year in Arizona, per MLB.com.

Dodgers release pitcher Dustin McGowan
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2:37 pm ET) The Dodgers have decided to release pitcher Dustin McGowan, according to the L.A. Times. McGowan posted a 6.75 ERA in seven spring training appearances, adding six runs allowed on five hits.

McGowan was also due a $1 million roster bonus if he was on the major league roster for at least one day this season.

Rockies option Charlie Culberson to minor leagues
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2:31 pm ET) The Rockies have decided to part ways with third baseman Charlie Culberson and optioned him to Triple-A Tuesday, reports the Denver Post.

Culberson missed significant time at the beginning of spring training while dealing with a bulging disc.

"The thing with Charlie is, he's very talented. He’s got some tools that you don't always see in that role — there's power and speed and defense," manager Walt Weiss said. "It's a matter of tightening things up offensively. But there’s a lot to like there."

Brewers' Ron Roenicke: Ryan Braun's thumb not a concenr
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2:31 pm ET) Brewers manager Ron Roenicke reiterated that outfielder Ryan Braun's thumb is no longer a concern. He told reporters that all systems are go with Braun heading into the start of the season, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Braun is hitting .323 with two homers and six RBI this spring.

Angels' Josh Hamilton still not progressing from shoulder injury
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2:21 pm ET) Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton was able to hit off a tee Tuesday, but hasn't progressed to any significant baseball activities, manager Mike Scioscia said Tuesday per the L.A. Times.

Hamilton, who is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, has taken light batting practice during spring training, but has not been able to play in a spring training game yet this season.

Cubs will wait until the time is right to call up Kris Bryant
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2:16 pm ET) Cubs manager Joe Maddon and president of baseball operations Theo Epstein both know Kris Bryant has the talent to make it in the major leagues. But both expressed concern about having him for the long haul over his entire career Tuesday, reports MLB.com.

"I'm not going to sit here and tell you that you wouldn't want him in your lineup -- there's no question you want him in your lineup," Maddon said. "He's also 23. I'm looking forward to working with this guy for the next 15 years. That'll make me 76. If I'm the next Jack McKeon, I'll be working with this guy when I'm 76 years of age."

Bryant hit a spring training high nine home runs in 40 at-bats while posting a .425 average.

"I'm not saying we're right all the time or right on this issue," Epstein said, "but we have a pretty good track record of bringing along young talent and helping them get off to a good start in their Major League careers, and the way we've done it is to wait for just the right moment."

Maddon thinks he's handled the difficult situation extremely well.

"I put myself in the guy's shoes," Maddon said. "What was my brain like at that age? What was I capable of handling at that age? He's got me beat like so much right now as to what I would've done or been able to handle this at that moment. It's not easy. There's so many things coming at you from so many different directions, and he's done a wonderful job."

Dodgers' Mike Adams will start season at Triple-A
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2:12 pm ET) Dodgers pitcher Mike Adams was informed he will begin the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, according to SB Nation.

Adams, 36, signed a minor-league deal with the club in early March. He posted a 2.89 ERA over 22 games in 2014. He posted a 9.64 ERA over 4 2/3 innings of work this spring.

"It's a little bit disappointing. I thought I was coming in with an opportunity to make the team. They felt that they didn't want to rush me and cram my innings in, which I understand," Adams said. "Hopefully it's something that won't take long."a
