Angels C Chris Iannetta slugs three-run homer against Red Sox

(12:17 pm ET) Angels catcher Chris Iannetta belted a three-run home run on Friday in his team's 12-5 win over the Red Sox.

Ianetta's home run was just his second long-ball of the season, but it came in a solid 1 for 3 performance with two walks and three RBI.

Ianetta is hitting .172/.263/.276 with two home runs and nine RBI in 87 at-bats this season.


Athletics 3B Brett Lawrie out of Saturday lineup

(12:09 pm ET) Third baseman Brett Lawrie is one of the few hot Athletics, but he is out of the lineup Saturday against the host Rays. Versatile Max Muncy is manning the position instead.

Lawrie is on a five-game hitting streak in which he has eight hits in 20 at-bats. His slash line on the season is .279/.310/.364.


Yankees RP Chris Martin could return to game action next week

(12:08 pm ET) Yankees reliever Chris Martin (elbow) had thrown one bullpen session and is expected to throw another one Saturday, manager Joe Girardi told reporters. Martin could be pitching in a game by next week.

Red Sox 1B Mike Napoli homers in loss to Angels

(12:06 pm ET) Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli homered for the fifth time this season in his team's 12-5 loss to the Angels on Friday.

Napoli, who has struggled for most of the season, has two multihit games in his past five games. He went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a walk on Friday.

Napoli is hitting .333/.375/.733 in with two home runs in 15 at-bats in his past four games.


Athletics C Stephen Vogt set to sit Saturday

(12:05 pm ET) Athletics catcher Stephen Vogt had not received a day off since May 15. He's getting one Saturday at Tampa Bay as Josh Phegley will squat behind the plate instead.

Vogt broke out of his slump Friday night with two hits, including a home run. It ended a 2-for-17 slide and was his first milti-hit game in two weeks.


Rays' Steven Souza rebounds from four-strikeout game with HR

(12:01 pm ET) A day after striking out four times, Rays outfielder Steven Souza bounced back with a solo home run during a 5-2 win Friday against the A's. He went 1 for 2 with one walk, one strikeout, one stolen base and two runs.

Three of Souza's seven home runs have come in the last 12 games. He has a .262/.340/.524/.864 slash line over that span. He also has two doubles, six RBI, five walks, 10 runs, 19 strikeouts and three stolen bases in his last 12 games.


Red Sox 2B Pedroia shines in loss to Angels

(12:00 pm ET) Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia continued his hot-streak at the plate despite his team's 12-5 loss to the Angels on Friday.

Pedroia went 3 for 5 with an RBI in the loss. His last six games have been stellar, hitting .296/.321/.407 with eight hits and three doubles in 28 at-bats.


Rangers SP Derek Holland to begin throwing program next week

(11:56 am ET) Rangers starting pitcher Derek Holland (shoulder) will begin a throwing program late next week, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He will have an MRI in three weeks before getting cleared to throw off a mound.

Reds SS Zack Cozart lowered to seventh in Saturday order

(11:55 am ET) Reds shortstop Zack Cozart has certainly played a role in his team's recent struggles at the plate. His role has changed for the Saturday game in Cleveland, where he will be bat seventh.

Cozart assumed that spot three times this year. He began the season batting eighth, but was moved up due to a strong start. His current 1-for-20 slide has his average down to .278, its lowest point in six weeks.


1B Logan Morrison with two RBI in Mariners win

(11:50 am ET) Mariners 1B Logan Morrison went 1 for 4 with two crucial RBI in his team's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays on Friday.

Morrison is hitting .224/.302/.399 with six home runs and 21 RBI in 143 at-bats this season.
