by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(11:01 pm ET) Red Sox center fielder Mookie Betts had a nice night at the plate in a 12-6 win over the Blue Jays on Thursday. Betts went 3 for 6 with two RBI and a run scored. He also stole his 13th base of the season.

Blue Jays send Matt Boyd to Triple-A following nightmare start
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(10:54 pm ET) Blue Jays rookie left-hander Matt Boyd had a horrific start on Thursday against the Red Sox. Boyd, who was making his second big-league start, failed to record an out in the first inning. He allowed seven runs on six hits and a walk, as the Red Sox won by a 12-6 score.

Boyd (0-1) gave up a two-run blast to David Ortiz, and then a solo shot to the very next batter, Hanley Ramirez. According to STATS.com, Boyd became the first American League starter to allow seven runs without recording an out since 1998.

The youngster had an impressive debut, allowing four runs in 6 2/3 innings to the Rangers on Saturday. But Thursday's outing was a nightmare, and his ERA--albeit a small sample size--increased to 14.85.

Boyd was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo following Thursday's game, according to TSN.
