Craig Kimbrel's shoulder injury was non-issue Saturday

(11:57 am ET) Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said closer Craig Kimbrel will be available Sunday against the Mets after struggling in his first appearance Saturday since returning from a shoulder injury. However, Kimbrel's shoulder injury was not the reason for his struggles Saturday.

Kimbrel was removed from Saturday's game after loading the bases during a save situation. He was charged with two runs on three hits and one walk in two-thirds of an inning.


Jordy Mercer misses second straight start

(11:53 am ET) Pirates shortstop Jordy Mercer missed a second straight start Sunday against the Brewers because of an ankle injury. Clint Barmes once again started in his absence.

Mercer did make a pinch-hit appearance Saturday, recording a fly out to center field in the sixth inning.


Ryan Ludwick back from one-game absence

(11:49 am ET) Reds outfielder Ryan Ludwick was back in the starting lineup Sunday against the Cubs after missing one game due to a toe injury. Ludwick is batting .385 (5 for 13) with one home run and two RBI in his last four games.

Anthony Rizzo (back) able to play Sunday

(11:45 am ET) Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo was able to start Sunday's game vs. Cincinnati after leaving Saturday's game due to back spasms. Rizzo is batting .419 (18 for 43) with one triple, one home run, two doubles, six RBI, six walks and eight runs in his last 12 games.

Matt Harrison's next start to come in the majors

(11:36 am ET) Rangers pitcher Matt Harrison will likely make his next start in the majors, according to MLB Network Radio. 

Harrison has progressed during rehab, throwing eight shutout inning during his last start. General manger Jon Daniels said three of the team's scouts said Harrison's stuff was back to normal. It's unclear when Harrison will make his season debut. 


Adrian Beltre should return for Seattle series

(11:33 am ET) Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre should return against the Mariners, according to ESPN.

Beltre went on the disabled list with a quad strain, but it did not appear serious. He's on track to return after the minimum 15 days, and should appear in the team's upcoming series with the Mariners. That series begins April 25. Beltre is hitting .286 in 28 at-bats. 


Jurickson Profar targeting June return

(11:30 am ET) Rangers infielder Jurickson Profar is targeting a June return, according to ESPN.

Profar has been sidelined by shoulder issues. General manager Jon Daniels said the first week of June was a realistic return date, but they want to be 100 percent sure Profar is healthy before throwing him out there.


Javier Baez back in lineup for Triple-A Iowa

(11:28 am ET) Cubs shortstop prospect Javier Baez returned from the 7-day disabled list Sunday for Triple-A Iowa. He had been sidelined by a left ankle sprain.

Lyle Overbay reinstated from paternity list

(11:25 am ET) Brewers first baseman Lyle Overbay was reinstated from the paternity list Sunday. He had been away from the team since Thursday.

Mark Teixiera activated from disabled list

(11:24 am ET) Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira was activated from the disabled list Sunday.

Teixeira is coming back from a hamstring injury, and was expected to return Sunday. He's hitting fifth against Rays starter Cesar Ramos.
