Padres OF WIl Myers to undergo tests on left wrist Tuesday

(7:36 pm ET) Padres outfielder Wil Myers will undergo more tests Tuesday to gauge how his injured wrist is progressing, reports MLB.com.

Myers has not played since May 10 because of a wrist injury and he is currently on the 15-day disabled list.


Padres SP Brandon Morrow to throw simulated game Thursday

(7:24 pm ET) Padres manager Bud Black said pitcher Brandon Morrow is on track to throw a simulated game Thursday, reports 1090 Sports Radio.

Morrow is on the 15-day DL with right shoulder inflammation and he has not pitched since May 3. He tossed a 45-pitch bullpen session Sunday.


Orioles' Ryan Flaherty begins rehab assignment on Monday

(7:19 pm ET) Orioles infielder Ryan Flaherty went 0 for 3 at the plate in his first rehab game for Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. Flaherty, who is currently on the 15-day DL with a groin injury, collected two RBI and one walk in four plate appearances.

Flaherty has not played since May 11 when he suffered the injury and is hitting .250 in 36 at-bats this season.


Athletics DH Billy Butler collects two hits in Monday's win

(7:10 pm ET) Athletics designated hitter Billy Butler went 2 for 4 at the plate to help the lead the A's to a 4-0 win over the Tigers on Monday.

Butler also drove in a run when he singled off Shane Greene in the sixth inning, which scored Marcus Semien. Butler is now on a four-game hitting streak and is 6 for 16 during the streak.


Tigers SP Shane Greene allows eight hits in Monday's loss

(7:05 pm ET) Tigers pitcher Shane Greene surrendered four runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings of work during Monday's 4-0 loss to the Athletics.

Greene was cruising along until he encountered trouble in the sixth inning. During the inning, Greene allowed five hits which led to all four runs being scored during the frame. The outing raised his ERA from 4.05 to 4.27. He struck out four batters and walked none during the start.

Greene had given up three runs in his last three starts combined before surrendering four runs Monday. His next scheduled start is set for Saturday at the Los Angeles Angels.


Athletics SP Jesse Hahn records first complete game, shutout

(6:59 pm ET) Athletics starter Jesse Hahn must have figured that while he was shooting for the first complete game of his career, he might as well earn his first shutout too.

And that's what he got Monday afternoon against an albeit skeleton Tigers lineup sans Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez.

Hahn gave up just four hits, including only two through seven innings. He walked one and fanned five in raising his record to 2-4.

The right-hander had not thrown more than six innings in any of his previous seven starts. He lowered his ERA from 4.43 to 3.69 with his latest effort. He will try to shrink it further Saturday against the Yankees.

 


Athletics sign pitcher Joe Paterson to minor-league deal

(6:34 pm ET) The Athletics signed pitcher Joe Paterson to a minor-league contract Monday, reports MLBDailyDish.com.

Paterson was recently released by the Royals. In 2014, he produced a 33.75 ERA in 1 1/3 innings.


Mattingly: Starters will remain in line for weekend series

(6:16 pm ET) Don Mattingly has declared that the Dodgers will not skip a starter with an off-day looming Thursday.

The result is that Mike Bolsinger, Carlos Frias and Brett Anderson will be the starters in the weekend series against St. Louis, per the Orange County Register.


Braves infielder Chris Johnson could be back before Thursday

(6:12 pm ET) Braves infielder Chris Johnson is beginning his rehab assignmnent on Monday with Triple-A Gwinnett and could rejoin the team on Thursday, manager Fredi Gonzalez said per the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Johnson, who is currently on the 15-day DL with a hand injury, may even be able to join the team earlier in the week if all goes well in Gwinnett on Monday. Johnson has been out since April 30 with the injury and is hitting .279 with five RBI in 43 at-bats on the season.


Padres OF Matt Kemp set to DH on Monday

(5:53 pm ET) Slumping Padres outfielder Matt Kemp will not have to worry about playing the field Monday night against the cross-town Angels. He is serving as the designated hitter after starting 44 of 45 games in right.

Kemp broke a 1-for-18 slide with two hits Sunday. But he has just one homer run in 175 at-bats on the season.
