Brandon Kintzler picks up one-out win Tuesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:20 am ET) Brewers pitcher Brandon Kintzler picked up a win Tuesday, recording the final out of the 11th inning in his team's 3-2, 12-inning victory over the Cardinals.

Kintzler needed just three pitches to get the only batter he faced to ground out with a man on first to end the 11th inning, and the Brewers broke through for the lead in the next half-inning. It's Kintzler's second straight appearance facing only one batter. He owns a 3.50 ERA and 29:14 K:BB ratio in 54 innings.

Josh Collmenter tosses eight innings in loss vs. Giants
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:17 am ET) Diamondbacks pitcher Josh Collmenter was stuck with a loss Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on seven hits in eight innings and striking out just one in his team's 2-1 defeat against the Giants.

Collmenter (10-8) has given up only four earned runs while delivering five straight quality starts, and he gave up his first home run in that stretch in the fourth inning Tuesday. After his offense got the run back in the sixth, Collmenter fell behind again on a sacrifice fly in the seventh. He owns a 3.60 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 107:38 K:BB ratio in 165 innings. Collmenter is scheduled to face the Twins Monday in what should be his last start of the season.

Jake Peavy surrenders one run in win vs. Diamondbacks
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:17 am ET) Giants pitcher Jake Peavy earned a win Tuesday, allowing just one earned run on five hits and one walk in 7 2/3 innings while striking out four in his team's 2-1 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Peavy (7-13) continued his run of excellence Tuesday, with the only damage coming on an RBI single in the sixth inning. He's allowed a total of three earned runs in his last five outings, and he hasn't given up more than two earned runs in any of his last seven starts. Peavy owns a 3.82 ERA and 151:59 K:BB ratio in 190 2/3 innings, but he's posted a 2.29 ERA since coming to San Francisco. He's scheduled to face the Dodgers Monday.

Kevin Siegrist struggles again, takes loss Tuesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:16 am ET) Cardinals pitcher Kevin Siegrist took a loss Tuesday, allowing one earned run on one hit and one walk in one inning while striking out one in his team's 3-2, 12-inning defeat against the Brewers.

Siegrist (1-4) has now surrendered at least one earned run in six of his last nine outings, with Tuesday's blemish coming on an RBI single in the 12th. His ERA has jumped from 3.86 to 6.30 since the end of July, and the reliever owns a 37:12 K:BB ratio in 30 innings.

Trevor Rosenthal suffers blown save vs. Brewers
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:13 am ET) Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal blew a save opportunity Tuesday, giving up one earned run on one hit and two walks in one inning in his team's 3-2, 12-inning loss to the Brewers.

Rosenthal walked the first batter of the ninth inning before surrendering a double to put two runners in scoring position with no out. After a groundout couldn't advance the runners, the closer intentionally walked the next batter to load the bases with one out but blew the save on a sacrifice fly. He owns a 3.31 ERA and 85:41 K:BB ratio in 68 innings.

Lance Lynn surrenders one run in no-decision vs. Brewers
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:10 am ET) Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, giving up just one earned run on five hits and one walk in seven innings and striking out five in his team's 3-2, 12-inning loss to the Brewers.

Lynn watched the offense score two runs in the bottom of the first inning and was able to maintain the lead throughout the game despite serving up a solo home run in the fourth inning, but the bullpen blew his lead in the ninth inning to deny him a win. He's now allowed exactly one earned run in three straight starts. Lynn owns a 2.68 ERA and 167:69 K:BB ratio in 191 2/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Cubs Monday.

Wily Peralta allows two runs in no-decision vs. Cardinals
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(12:10 am ET) Brewers pitcher Wily Peralta didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on five hits and one walk in seven innings while striking out three in his team's 3-2, 12-inning win over the Cardinals.

Peralta gave up a pair of runs in the first inning, one on a bases-loaded walk and another on a double play, and though he settled down from that point on, the offense was unable to pick him up until the ninth inning. He owns a 3.70 ERA and 137:57 K:BB ratio in 184 2/3 innings. Peralta is scheduled to face the Pirates Sunday.

Tyler Matzek strikes out six in win vs. Dodgers
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/16/2014) Rockies pitcher Tyler Matzek earned a win Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on 11 hits and one walk in 5 1/3 innings while striking out six in his team's 10-4 victory over the Dodgers.

While the opposing starter allowed five runs on only four hits, Matzek (6-10) was able to scatter 11 hits while only allowing a two-run double in the sixth inning while already up 5-0. He's held the opposition to two earned runs or less in five straight starts and now owns a 4.19 ERA and 83:41 K:BB ratio in 111 2/3 innings. Matzek is scheduled to face the Diamondbacks Sunday.

Dan Haren surrenders five runs in loss vs. Rockies
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/16/2014) Dodgers pitcher Dan Haren took a loss Tuesday, allowing five earned runs on four hits and one walk in five innings while striking out five in his team's 10-4 defeat against the Rockies.

Haren (13-11) watched a run come home on a groundout and another on a wild pitch in the first inning. He then gave up another run on a groundout in the second inning before serving up a two-run home run in the fourth. It was the first time in five starts Haren surrendered more than one earned run. He owns a 4.14 ERA and 134:36 K:BB ratio in 174 innings heading into Sunday's scheduled matchup with the Cubs.

Roenis Elias exits game with left elbow stiffness
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/16/2014) Mariners pitcher Roenis Elias was removed from Tuesday's start against the Angels for precautionary reasons due to left elbow stiffness, the team announced.

Elias gave up two earned runs on five hits and one walk in three-plus innings and struck out one before having to come out of the game. He's scheduled to pitch again Sunday against the Astros, but his availability is obviously tied to the status of his elbow.
