Angels CF Mike Trout (wrist) not in lineup Tuesday

(4:32 pm ET) Angels center fielder Mike Trout is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros.

Trout, who missed three games earlier this month with a heel injury, twisted his left wrist during Sunday's game against the Rangers. 

Trout will be replaced in center field by Daniel Robertson, who will hit out of the ninth spot in the lineup.


Phillies push back Cole Hamels' next start

(4:28 pm ET) Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels had his next start pushed back from Thursday to Friday, reports MLB.com.

With the trade deadline at 4 p.m. Friday, pushing the start back would prevent Hamels from suffering an injury before the deadline. Hamels has been involved in numerous trade rumors recently.


Marlins SP Henderson Alvarez undergoes shoulder surgery

(4:20 pm ET) Marlins pitcher Henderson Alvarez underwent surgery on his injured right shoulder Tuesday, reports MLB.com.

Alvarez is on the disabled list due to right shoulder inflammation. He was recently shut down during a rehab assignment after experiencing more discomfort in the shoulder. He will miss the rest of the season.


Mets' David Wright begins baseball activities Tuesday

(4:14 pm ET) Mets third baseman David Wright was able to take grounders, hit and do some running Tuesday, the team announced.

Wright has been sidelined since April with a back issue, but manager Terry Collins said he expects Wright to return this season.

"I think David Wright will be in our lineup by the end of the season," Collins said.


Red Sox move Clay Buchholz to 60-day disabled list

Buchholz is dealing with a strained flexor tendon and the earliest he would be eligible to return would be Sept. 9.

Machi was recently waived by the Giants after posting a 5.14 ERA in 35 innings of work this season.

Thatcher was recently designated for assignment after posting a 3.79 ERA over 19 innings of work.

Holt also missed Monday's game with a hyperextended right knee. He was replaced by Jemile Weeks, who will hit eighth and play second base.


Marlins reinstate Dee Gordon from DL; place Solano on paternity list

(3:05 pm ET) The Marlins removed second baseman Dee Gordon from the disabled list Tuesday, the team announced.

Gordon had been out since July 11 with a thumb injury. He will bat first and play second in Tuesday's game against the Nationals, reports MLB.com.

With Gordon back on the roster, the team placed infielder Donovan Solano on the paternity list.


Royals, Athletics agree on LF Ben Zobrist trade

(2:49 pm ET) The Royals and Athletics have agreed on a trade that would send left fielder Ben Zobrist to Kansas City, CBS Baseball Insider Jon Heyman is reporting.

Kansas City is reportedly sending one of its top prospects, Sean Manaea , to Oakland in the swap. Manaea was a concensus top-100 prospect by MLB.com and Baseball America.
