Rangers release veteran pitcher Wandy Rodriguez

(4:49 pm ET) The Rangers released pitcher Wandy Rodriguez on Tuesday. Rodriguez, who was removed from the rotation in mid-July, went 6-4 with a 4.90 ERA in 17 outings (15 starts) before being placed on waivers.

Rangers CF Leonys Martin optioned to Triple-A

(4:46 pm ET) The Rangers demoted struggling outfielder Leonys Martin to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday. Martin, who began the season as the Rangers' starting center fielder, made just four starts since July 4.

Martin heads to the minors batting just .159 in his last 33 games (15 starts). For the season, he has a .220/.265/.314/.578 slash line.


Athletics OF Josh Reddick returns from one-game absence

(4:43 pm ET) Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick returned to the starting lineup Tuesday against the Orioles after sitting out Monday due to lower back tightness.

Since July 1, Reddick is batting .274 with two home runs, six doubles, 10 RBI, 10 runs, three walks, 11 strikeouts and two stolen bases in 26 games.


Athletics option 1B Max Muncy back to Triple-A Nashville

Bryan Mitchell back in Yankees bullpen after making one start

(4:06 pm ET) Yankees pitcher Bryan Mitchell is headed back to the bullpen with prospect Luis Severino taking the rotation spot of Michael Pineda, according to general manager Brian Cashman.

Mitchell made one start Saturday against the White Sox, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings.


Hanley Ramirez, Pablo Sandoval suit up for Red Sox on Tuesday

(4:01 pm ET) Red Sox left fielder Hanley Ramirez (knee) and third baseman Pablo Sandoval (wrist) were in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Yankees.

Ramirez was removed in the eighth inning of Sunday's game against the Rays due to a knee injury. Although, his status for Tuesday's game was never in jeopardy.

Sandoval returned to the starting lineup after missing three straight starts. He left Thursday's game against the White Sox after he was hit on the left wrist while swinging at a pitch.


Cashman: Yankees SP Michael Pineda will not be back in August

(3:55 pm ET) Yankees starting pitcher Michael Pineda will miss the entire month of August due to a a right flexor forearm muscle strain that landed him on the disabled list in late July, general manager Brian Cashman told reporters Tuesday.

The right-hander is 9-7 with a 3.97 ERA and 1.22 WHIP through 19 starts. Although, he is 1-4 with a 4.91 ERA in his last six starts.

Reds activate RP Manny Parra from DL, option Kyle Waldrop

(3:37 pm ET) The Reds reinstated reliever Manny Parra, who has been sidelined since July 20 due to a sprained left elbow, from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. To clear a roster spot, outfielder Kyle Waldrop was optioned to Triple-A Louisville.

Braves recall Joey Terdoslavich, Ryan Kelly from Triple-A

(3:32 pm ET) The Braves recalled outfielder Joey Terdoslavich and reliever Ryan Kelly from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. They take the roster spots of Freddie Freeman and Jason Frasor, who were both placed on the disabled list.
