Nationals' Stephen Strasburg earns first win of season on Sunday

(4:24 pm ET) After two rough starts to being the season, Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg (1-1) returned to form on Sunday against the Phillies, allowing one run on five hits in 7 1/3 innings to take the win on Sunday. 

He struck out seven and walked two in the victory. 

The lone run scored off Strasburg came in the eighth inning via an RBI single from Freddy Galvis. 

Next up for Strasburg are the Marlins in Miami on Saturday.


Braves' Jonny Gomes drives in four runs Sunday

(4:23 pm ET) Braves left fielder Jonny Gomes went 1 for 2 with a walk and four RBI in his team's 5-2 win over the Blue Jays Sunday.

Gomes opened up the scoring by clearing the bases with a three-run double in the first inning. He then chipped in his team's fifth run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the third inning, giving the Braves plenty of breathing space in the win, which pushed their record to 8-4.

Gomes has hit .261/.333/.565 with two home runs and seven RBI in 23 at-bats.


Shane Greene moves to 3-0 for Tigers

(4:20 pm ET) Tigers starter Shane Greene moved to 3-0 on the season with a win over the White Sox on Sunday. 

Greene gave up one run in seven innings and has a 0.39 ERA for the season. He allowed five hits and walked four, while striking out three. He threw 65 strikes in 102 pitches. 

Greene next pitches on Friday against Cleveland and Danny Salazar. 


Cardinals' Matt Holliday (back) returns to lineup Sunday

(4:14 pm ET) Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday (back) is in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Holliday had to come out of Saturday's game in the second inning due to mid-back tightness, but he's back slotted into the No. 3 spot one night later. He has hit .364/.476/.394 with six RBI in 33 at-bats.

The Cardinals are heavy favorites (-185) against the Reds Sunday.


Marlins starter Tom Koehler knocked out of fourth inning, takes loss

(4:10 pm ET) Marlins starting pitcher Tom Koehler (1-2) lasted only 3 1/3 innings and suffered the loss on Sunday, getting knocked out of the game during the Mets' seven-run rally in the fourth inning.

Koehler was charged with all seven runs in the frame.

The Mets' rally consisted of three RBI singles, a two-run double and a bases-loaded walk.

Koehler will look to regain his form Saturday against the Nationals.


Braves' Jason Grilli earns sixth save

(4:10 pm ET) Braves closer Jason Grilli picked up his sixth save Sunday, striking out two in a 1-2-3 ninth inning to slam the door on his team's 5-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Grilli threw eight of his nine pitches for strikes Sunday, delivering his second straight perfect outing since giving up a run in a save Monday. He owns a 1.50 ERA and 10:2 K:BB ratio in six innings.


Mets starter Matt Harvey moves to 3-0 with solid outing on Sunday

(4:08 pm ET) Mets starter Matt Harvey (3-0) allowed four runs on eight hits and stuckout seven in six innings of work Sunday to earn the win against the Marlins.

Harvey did not walk a batter in the game and has walked just one batter in 18 innings this season.

He's won all three of his starts in 2015.

Harvey will look to stay perfect Saturday in New York against the Yankees.


Blue Jays' Daniel Norris chased in third inning vs. Braves

(4:08 pm ET) Blue Jays pitcher Daniel Norris took the loss Sunday, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks in just 2 2/3 innings while striking out one in his team's 5-2 defeat against the Braves.

Norris (1-1) loaded the bases in the first inning before surrendering a three-run double. He then saw two more runs score in the third inning, though one came around due to a throwing error, before being removed from the game. The lefty owns a 6.08 ERA and 10:7 K:BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings heading into a matchup with the Rays next weekend.


Red Sox DH David Ortiz ejected Sunday for arguing strike-three call

(4:06 pm ET) Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz was ejected during Sunday's game against the Orioles after arguing a called third strike, reports the Boston Globe.

Daniel Nava replaced Ortiz in the DH spot.

Reds' Billy Hamilton, Devin Mesoraco out of lineup Sunday

(4:01 pm ET) Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton (groin) and Devin Mesoraco (hip) are not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Hamilton came out of Saturday's game with a groin strain. With the speedster out of the lineup, Skip Schumaker will lead off for the Reds Sunday night. Mesoraco hasn't played since last Sunday due to a hip injury, though he was expected to be available at some point this weekend. Tucker Barnhart will draw the start at catcher Sunday.

The Reds are heavy underdogs (+165) against the Cardinals in St. Louis Sunday.
