Red Sox 1B Hanley Ramirez out again Friday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:13 pm ET) Red Sox outfielder-turned-first baseman Hanley Ramirez is again absent from the lineup Friday against Philadelphia.

A shoulder injury has prevented Ramirez from playing since Aug. 26.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:19 pm ET) The Brewers have promoted right-hander Ariel Pena from Triple-A Colorado Springs, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel has reported. He is expected to join the team for its Friday night game in Cincinnati.

The 26-year-old Pena managed a 2-2 record and 1.32 WHIP in 43 appearances for the SkySox. He fanned 83 in 82 2/3 innings.

It remains to be seen how Milwaukee will use Pena, who hurled in both relief and as a starter this year. His last seven outings came in the latter role.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
