Giants sit 2B Joe Panik, SS Brandon Crawford against lefty

(6:59 pm ET) The Giants have benched their starting middle infield Monday. Both second baseman Joe Panik and shortstop Brandon Crawford are out against Mets left-hander Jonathon Niese.

It marks the first absence for Panik since May 21 and third for Crawford since three days later.

Crawford has certainly not struggled against southpaws this season. He is batting .333 (20-for-60). Panik has 19 hits in 68 at-bats against them in 2015.


Mets 1B Lucas Duda not in Monday's lineup

(6:51 pm ET) Mets first baseman Lucas Duda was held out of Monday's lineup at the Giants, the team announced.

He was replaced at first base by Michael Cuddyer, who will bat fifth. Krik Nieuwenhuis received the start in left field. Duda is hitting .138 with two doubles and four RBI in his last 15 games.

The Mets are the underdogs (+135) at San Francisco on Monday.


Dodgers SS Jimmy Rollins batting behind pitcher Monday

(6:34 pm ET) Don Mattingly has placed starting pitcher Yimi Garcia into the eighth spot in the Monday lineup against Philadelphia. Shortstop Jimmy Rollins will follow him.

That marks the first time a Dodgers pitcher has not batted ninth since Randy Wolf hit eighth on Aug. 6, 2009.


Phillies' Ben Revere returns to lineup Monday

(6:33 pm ET) Phillies outfielder Ben Revere was back in the lineup for Monday's game at the Los Angeles Dodgers, reports TrueBlueLA.com.

He will bat first and play right field. Revere had been held out of Sunday's game because of a hamstring injury. Over his last 13 games, Revere is hitting .364 with one home run and five RBI.

The Phillies are the underdogs (+240) at Los Angeles on Monday. 


Dodgers RF Yasiel Puig dropped to sixth in Monday order

(6:29 pm ET) Scuffling Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig has been lowered to sixth in the lineup for the first time this season against Philadelphia on Monday night.

Puig is batting just .148 (4-for-27) with 11 strikeouts since June 26. His .278 average is at its lowest point since April 18.


Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez fine for Monday game

(6:21 pm ET) A hand contusion sustained on a hit-by-pitch that knocked Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez out of the game Sunday will not have him sidelined Monday against Philadelphia. He is in the lineup.

Gonzalez is in a 2-for-18 mini-slump.


Andrew Romine gets start at first for Tigers

(6:18 pm ET) Andrew Romine gets an opportunity to fill in for the injured Miguel Cabrera on Monday. With Cabrera on the disabled list, Romine gets the start at first for the Tigers. 

It's Romine's second start of the season at first base and his first game there since June 24. Romine is batting eighth in the lineup. 


Alex Avila replaces James McCann behind plate for Tigers

(6:14 pm ET) Tigers catcher James McCann is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game. McCann has started 49 games and five of the last seven. 

Replacing McCann behind the plate is Alex Avila, who started at first the last two games. Avila will get his 22nd start at catcher this season. 


Brewers expected to activate Khris Davis on Tuesday

(5:55 pm ET) Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Monday that outfielder Khris Davis is likely to be activated for Tuesday's game against the Braves, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Davis has been sidelined since May 30 after undergoing knee surgery.


White Sox impressed by Nate Jones in simulated game

(5:55 pm ET) White Sox manager Robin Ventura was impressed by Nate Jones during a simulated game, per the Chicago Sun-Times

Jones is on the 60-day disabled list as he recovers from Tommy John surgery. 

Ventura raved about how the ball came out of Jones' hand. Jones should be ready for a minor league rehab assignment in the near future.
