Twins SP Mike Pelfrey goes eight innings in no-decision

(6:19 pm ET) Twins starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey tossed eight innings in a no-decision against the Mariners on Sunday.

Pelfrey didn't allow a run thoughout his start, though he did give up four hits and a walk.

Pelfrey now has a 3.65 ERA this season.


Rangers Sam Dyson picks up first career save

(6:17 pm ET) Rangers reliever Sam Dyson induced a game-ending double play with the bases loaded and a one-run lead, Sunday against San Francisco. 

Dyson gave up two hits and allowed one inherited runner to score, but he pitched 2/3 of an inning to earn his first career save. 


Mariners RP Tom Wilhelmsen records second save of season

(6:17 pm ET) Mariners relief pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen closed out his team's 4-1 win over the Twins in 11 innings on Sunday, earning his second save of the year in the process.

Wilhelmsen now has a 4.08 ERA in 35 1/3 innings of relief this season.


Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma is masterful in no-decision

(6:14 pm ET) Mariners starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma was dominant during his start against the Twins on Sunday, despite coming up with just a no-decision.

Iwakuma allowed just one run on three hits in 8 2/3 innings of work. He struck out eight batters and limited his mistakes to one walk and one home run.

Iwakuma now has a 4.47 ERA this season.


Rangers' Martin Perez picks up first win of year

(6:13 pm ET) Rangers' pitcher Martin Perez improved to 1-2 on the year with his first win of the season, over San Francisco on Sunday. 

Perez pitched a season-high 8 1/3 innings. He allowed one run on two hits and didn't walk a batter. His six strikeouts were not only a season high but more than he'd accumulated in his first three starts of the year combined. 


Mike Leake loses first start for Giants

(6:10 pm ET) Giants pitcher Mike Leake suffered a loss in his first start for the team, Sunday against Texas. 

Leake was acquired in a deadline deal with Cincinnati earlier in the week. He dropped to 9-6 on the year and saw his four-start winning streak come to an end. 

Leake allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings. He gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out five. 


Trevor Rosenthal picks up win in relief for Cardinals

(6:03 pm ET) Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal pitched a scoreless ninth inning, preserving a tie game. When the Cardinals won in the bottom of the ninth, Rosenthal picked up his first win since May 25 and improved to 2-2. 

Rosenthal was pitching in his first non-save situation in his last seven appearances. He allowed one hit and struck out one. 


Athletics LF Josh Reddick leaves game with back issue

(6:02 pm ET) Athletics left fielder Josh Reddick was removed from the game Sunday in Cleveland for a pinch-hitter with lower back tightness, per the Bay Area News Group.

The extent of the injury and any timetable for his return has yet to be determined.


White Sox LF Melky Cabrera continues offensive explosion

(6:00 pm ET) White Sox left fielder Melky Cabrera continued to be a dangerous offensive weapon for his team on Sunday against the Yankees.

Cabrera went 2 for 4 with a RBI in the loss to New York.

Over his last 12 games, Cabrera is hitting .480 with 24 hits, eight doubles, three home runs and 17 RBI.


Cardinals' Jaime Garcia picks up five-inning no-decision

(5:59 pm ET) Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia had his shortest outing of the year, pitching five innings against Colorado on Sunday. 

Garcia allowed one run and left with the lead, but the Cardinals bullpen gave it up, forcing him to settle for a no-decision. 

Garcia walked four, the most he's had since walking five in his first start of the season.
