Tyler Pastornicky placed on minor-league disabled list

(4:07 pm ET) Braves Triple-A infielder Tyler Pastornicky was placed on the minor-league disabled list with knee inflammation, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The injury is to Pastornicky's surgically-repaired left knee. He has hit .281/.321/.344 with seven stolen bases in 128 at-bats with Triple-A Gwinnett. He is also 7 for 35 with a triple in 22 games with the Braves.


Mat Latos expected to make next start

(3:59 pm ET) Reds manager Bryan Price believes pitcher Mat Latos will be able to make his next start after the All-Star break, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

"I think he's going to be fine," Price said.

Latos came out of his last start after five innings with back spasms. He owns a 2.79 ERA and 23:7 K:BB ratio in 38 2/3 innings.


Reds recall Neftali Soto, option Curtis Partch

(3:40 pm ET) The Reds recalled infielder Neftali Soto from Triple-A Louisville and optioned pitcher Curtis Partch to Louisville Saturday.

Soto is 3 for 28 with the Reds this season while also hitting .333/.371/.496 in 123 at-bats with Louisville. Partch walked three and struck out two in an inning Friday, giving him 5 1/3 scoreless innings in four appearances with the Reds.


Ian Desmond returns to lineup Saturday

(3:31 pm ET) Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

Desmond left Thursday's game with a hand injury after being hit by a pitch and wasn't able to play Friday, but it appears he's good to go moving forward. He has hit .241/.293/.429 with 16 home runs, 55 RBI and nine stolen bases in 345 at-bats.


Shane Victorino to rehab in Boston Sunday

(3:22 pm ET) Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino was scratched from his expected appearance at Double-A Portland Saturday, but he did not suffer a setback this time.

Instead of playing at Portland, Victorino will instead return to Boston to play in Class A Lowell's Futures game at Fenway Park Sunday. He will likely be evaluated by team doctors following Sunday's game, to determine the extend of his hamstring and back injuries. 


Efren Navarro up, Drew Rucinski down for Angels

(3:15 pm ET) The Angels recalled outfielder Efren Navarro from Triple-A Salt Lake Saturday, after optioning pitcher Drew Rucinski to Double-A.

Navarro hit .297/.350/.432 in 37 at-bats with the Angels during his last stint.


Angel Pagan yet to take swings in rehab

(2:50 pm ET) Giants outfielder Angel Pagan has yet to take swings while rehabbing at the team's spring-training facility, the Mercury News reports.

Pagan remains without a timetable for return. He has been sidelined since June 14 while dealing with a back injury. Pagan has hit .307/.356/.411 with three home runs, 19 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 241 at-bats.


Vidal Nuno replacing Chase Anderson as Sunday starter

(2:23 pm ET) Diamondbacks pitcher Vidal Nuno will replace Chase Anderson as the scheduled starter for Sunday's game in San Francisco, the Arizona Republic reports.

Anderson will be skipped in the rotation in an attempt to keep his innings down for the remainder of the season. Nuno tosses seven scoreless innings in his first start with the Diamondbacks Tuesday after coming over from the Yankees in a trade.


Emilio Bonifacio begins rookie-league rehab assignment

(1:58 pm ET) Cubs outfielder Emilio Bonifacio began a rehab assigment with the organization's Mesa Rookie League team Friday, going 3 for 4 at the plate.

Bonifacio has been sidelined sicne June 12 while recovering from an oblique strain. He has hit .261/.307/.340 with 13 stolen bases in 241 at-bats.


Brett Anderson set to return Sunday

(1:54 pm ET) Rockies pitcher Brett Anderson will be activated from the disabled list in time to start Sunday's game against the Twins, the Denver Post reports.

Anderson has been sidelined since mid-April while recovering from a broken finger, and with Yohan Flande returning to the minors earlier this week, the team appears ready to bring Anderson back into the fold. He owns a 3.60 ERA and 5:5 K:BB ratio in 15 innings.
