Tolleson struck out two batters while giving up just one hit in an inning of work. He has a 2.73 ERA in 59 1/3 innings this season.

Hamels allowed only one run on two hits in eight strong innings. He struck out an impressive 10 batters while allowing four walks.

With the loss, Ramirez dropped to 10-5 on the year with a 3.68 ERA.


Royals closer Greg Holland notches 29th save of season

Holland struck out two batters while closing out the ninth inning of his team's win over Tampa Bay. With the impressive outing, Holland lowered his ERA to 4.05 on the year.


Royals SP Edinson Volquez strikes outs five in win over Rays

(8/28/2015) Royals starting pitcher Edinson Volquez struck out five batters during his start against the Rays on Friday.

Volquez allowed two runs, one of them earned, on six hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. He recorded five strikeouts while allowing just two walks.

With the win, Volquez improved to 12-7 on the season with a 3.32 ERA.


Padres SP Ian Kennedy gives up five walks in loss to Phillies

Kennedy gave up two runs on two hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. He struck out seven batters but gave up five walks as he struggled with his location.

With the loss, Kennedy dropped to 8-12 on the season with a 3.94 ERA.

Phillies SP Aaron Nola strikes out six in win over Padres

Nola allowed just one run on two hits in seven strong innings of work. He struck out six batters and gave up two walks. Nola's only mistake came on a solo home run allowed to San Diego's Justin Upton.

With the win, Nola improved to 5-1 with a 3.26 ERA.


Nationals ace Max Scherzer serves up two homers in loss

(8/28/2015) Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer didn't have enough to come up with a win during his start against the Marlins on Friday.

Scherzer allowed four runs on six hits in seven inning. He struck out eight batters but allowed a pair of home runs that proved costly.

With the loss, Scherzer dropped to 11-11 on the season with a 2.88 ERA.
