Report: Twins to promote prospect Miguel Sano to MLB

(5:21 pm ET) Twins prospect Miguel Sano could be on his way to the Major Leagues. A source told MLB.com that Sano will promoted to the Twins, who have an empty roster spot with Kennys Vargas being sent to Double-A on Wednesday.

Sano, 22, was ranked the 13th-best prospect in baseball by Baseball America prior to the season. He has yet to play above the Double-A level, but he has been excelling with Chattanooga this season.

He owns a slash line of .274/.374/.544 with 15 home runs, 18 doubles and 48 RBI in 66 games with the Lookouts. However, he has also committed 15 errors at third base this year.

The team has not yet confirmed if Sano will be promoted. 


Orioles recall RP Tyler Wilson, will be in bullpen Wednesday

(5:19 pm ET) The Orioles have recalled relief pitcher Tyler Wilson from Triple-A Norfolk and he will be available in the bullpen from Wednesday's game against the Rangers, per masnsports.com.

Wilson was solid for the Orioles earlier this season before being sent down to Triple-A. In 17 innings of work, he allowed just four runs and also made one start.


Blue Jays RF Jose Bautista puts end to seven-game hitless streak

(5:17 pm ET) Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista put an end to a seven-game hitless streak (0 for 23) during Wednesday's 11-2 win against the Red Sox. Bautista went 2 for 3, which included his 16th home run, with three RBI, one run and one strikeout.

Bautista connected for a two-run homer off Rick Porcello in the second inning to give Toronto a 7-0 lead. It was his ninth home run since June 1.

He added a sac fly in the sixth inning for his 53rd RBI this season. Bautista has 23 RBI in his last 28 games.


Angels SP Jered Weaver throws bullpen session on Wednesday

(5:08 pm ET) Angels starter Jered Weaver threw another bullpen session on Wednesday, his second since landing on the disabled list with a hip injury on June 21. 

Weaver is expected to throw a third session on Saturday, according to the Orange County Register. The Angels have not outlined the steps for his recovery beyond Saturday.


Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson homers, doubles in win Wednesday

(5:07 pm ET) Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson totaled three hits, including his 20th double and 19th home run, in five at-bats during an 11-2 win Wednesday against the Red Sox. He finished with two runs, two RBI and one strikeout.

Both of his RBI came on a one-out home run off of Jonathan Aro in the eighth inning. It was his second home run in four games and his fourth home run since June 1.

Donaldson is batting .283 (15 for 53) with two home runs, five doubles, six RBI, eight runs, five walks and 17 strikeouts in his last 13 games.


Astros call up SP Dan Straily from Triple-A, to start Friday

(5:05 pm ET) The Astros will call up starting pitcher Dan Straily from Triple-A Fresno, the team announced via Twitter.

Straily, who last pitched in the major leagues in 2014, will start on Friday when the team visits the Red Sox.

Straily went 6-6 with a 4.06 ERA in 77 2/3 innings for Fresno this season.


Royals SP Jason Vargas to throw in simulated game Thursday

(5:04 pm ET) Royals starter Jason Vargas, currently out with a flexor strain, is expected to throw two innings in a simulated game on Thursday. Vargas has been on the disabled list since June 13.

Vargas will likely need at least two more simulated outings before he is able to return, according to the Kansas City Star. The Royals have not provided a firm timetable for Vargas' return to the rotation.


Blue Jays SS Jose Reyes totals four singles, four runs in 11-2 win

(4:58 pm ET) Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes singled four times in five at-bats during a 11-2 win Wednesday against the Red Sox. He also had four runs.

The four hits were a season high for the veteran shortstop. Reyes is 6 for 9 (.667) in his last two games after being mired in a 2-for-22 slump over his previous six games.

Since coming off the DL in late May, Reyes is batting .293 (43 for 146) with four home runs, nine double, 20 RBI, 23 runs, nine walks, 19 strikeouts and seven stolen bases in his last 34 games.


Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia won't start Thursday, should avoid DL

(4:54 pm ET) Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said left-hander Jaime Garcia will not make his next start on Thursday. Garcia is nursing a groin injury suffered in his start on June 25 in Miami. He has not pitched since that game, and it is unclear when he will make his next start. 

However, Matheny did indicate Garcia will avoid the disabled list, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch


Yankess recall OF Taylor Dugas; RP Esmil Rogers sent to Triple-A

(4:36 pm ET) The Yankees have recalled outfielder Taylor Dugas from Double-A Trenton, the team announced on Wednesday. Dugas is with the team as outfield insurance in case Carlos Beltran is forced to miss significant time with a rib cage injury.

Dugas was an eighth-round draft pick by the Yankees in 2012. He has been splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A this season. Overall, he owns a poor .198/.316/.235 batting line/

In a corresponding move, the Yankees outrighted right-hander Esmil Rogers to Triple-A Scranton.
