Jose Abreu breaks out of slump with three RBI

(12:12 am ET) White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu broke out of his recent struggles on Sunday. launching his fifth home run of the season in a 16-2 win over the Rangers.

Abreu launched a two-run home run in the fifth and doubled in a run in the ninth. He added another double and finished 3 for 6 with two runs scored and three RBI. In his last two games, he has five hits over nine at-bats. He is hitting .243 with five homers and 17 RBI in 74 at-bats. 


Adam Jones notches four hits in loss to Boston

(4/20/2014) Orioles outfielder Adam Jones had five total bases despite notching four hits in his team's 6-5 loss to Boston Sunday night.

Jones had singles in the first, third and sixth innings, respectively, before ripping a double in the ninth inning. He finished 4 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI. He is hitting .313 with one home run and eight RBI in 67 at-bats.


David Wright cranks out four hits in win over Braves

(4/20/2014) Mets third baseman David Wright cranked out four hits in his team's win over the Braves Sunday afternoon.

Wright had singles in the third, sixth, seventh and 10th innings, respectively. He finished 4 for 6 with a run scored and an RBI in a 4-3 win in extras. He has four multi-hit games over his last five. He is hitting .316 with one home run and 11 RBI in 76 at-bats.


Justin Morneau plates five runs in losing effort

(4/20/2014) Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau needed just two hits to drive in five runs Sunday afternoon against the Phillies.

Morneau drove in runs on a ground out in the third and a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. He also singled in a run in the first and launched a two-run home run off reliever Jacob Diekman in the seventh inning. He finished 2 for 4 with a run scored and five RBI in a 10-9 defeat. He is hitting .344 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 64 at-bats.


Ryan Howard just misses out on cycle vs. Rockies

(4/20/2014) Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard finished a double shy of a cycle Sunday afternoon against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Howard actually made it to second base on a seventh-inning single that got past outfielder Brandon Barnes. He also took starter Juan Nicasio deep for a two-run home run in the third inning. He finished 4 for 5 with three runs scored and three RBI in a 10-9 victory. He is hitting .262 with four homers and 10 RBI in 65 at-bats.


Edward Mujica strikes out only batter faced in win over O's

(4/20/2014) Red Sox reliever Edward Mujica struck out the only batter he faced on Sunday, but managed to get the win in his team's 6-5 victory over the Orioles. Mujica owns a 9.53 ERA, a 1.94 WHIP along with 5:2 K:BB ratio over 5 2/3 innings pitched.

Jake Peavy escapes rough outing with no-decision

(4/20/2014) Red Sox starter Jake Peavy was hit hard on Sunday, but managed to escape with a no-decision in his team's 6-5 win over the Orioles. The right-hander surrendered five runs on 10 hits and four walks while striking out five over 5 2/3 innings pitched.

Peavy has allowed a home run in each of his first four starts. He owns a 3.33 ERA, a 148 WHIP along with 25:14 K:BB ratio over 24 1/3 innings pitched. He'll look to bounce back in his next start Friday night at Toronto.


Brian Matusz coughs up late lead

(4/20/2014) Orioles reliever Brian Matusz suffered his first loss of the season Sunday night against Boston.

Matusz was unable to hang on in the ninth inning, and was charged with one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one in just one-third of an inning. He owns a 6.75 ERA over 6 2/3 innings pitched this season.


Ubaldo Jimenez settles for no-decision

(4/20/2014) Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez fell two outs shy of a quality start Sunday night, escaping with a no-decision in a 6-5 defeat.

Jimenez got off to a fast start, but slowed down late in his outing. He tossed five shutout frames before serving up a three-run home run to Jonny Gomes in the sixth inning. He was charged with three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five over 5 1/3 innings pitched.

Jimenez has allowed at least three runs in all four of his starts. He owns a 6.75 ERA, a 1.88 WHIP and 18:13 K:BB ratio over 21 1/3 innings. He'll make his next start Friday against Kansas City.


J.J. Hardy exits game with hamstring strain

(4/20/2014) Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy was removed from Sunday's contest against the Red Sox in Boston with a strained right hamstring. 

Hardy left the game in the top of the seventh inning due to the injury and was replaced by Stephen Lombardozzi. He hit a sacrifice fly in the opening frame and finished 1 for 2 with an RBI before the injury. He is hitting .256 with four RBI i 43 at-bats. His status remains uncertain for Monday's series finale against Boston.
