Troy Tulowitzki to return by mid-August?
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:05 pm ET) Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who underwent a dry needling procedure Monday for his injured left hip flexor, said he will get back to movement activities Wednesday, according to MLB.com.

It is believed Tulowitzki might be back by the middle of August, but for now he is taking his recovery day to day.

"It wasn't an easy process -- a tough day for me," Tulowitzki said in a telephone interview Tuesday morning. "But I feel all right. The plan is to get back to starting movement, see how it feels.

"(Wednesday) I'll start moving around and doing some stuff. I'll be jogging and walking a little bit -- obviously, it's not baseball activity, just getting moving to see how I feel."

Jose Molina set to sit Tuesday night
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:03 pm ET) Rays catcher Jose Molina is catching a break Tuesday against Milwaukee. He is out of the lineup in favor of Curt Casali.

Molina is hitless in his last seven at-bats after a nine-game hitting streak that raised his average from .173 to .200.

Curtis Partch recalled as Jay Bruce goes on personal leave
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:00 pm ET) The Reds announced Tuesday outfielder Jay Bruce was placed on the bereavement list. Reliever Curtis Partch was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to take his roster spot.

Chris Taylor in, Brad Miller out of Monday lineup
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:40 pm ET) Chris Taylor could be wresting at-bats away from disappointing Brad Miller at shortstop for the Mariners. The former is in the lineup Tuesday against the host Indians. Taylor is starting for the second time in the last three games.

Taylor is 3 for 8 since his promotion. Miller has four hits in his last 25 at-bats and his batting average has sunk to .203. He is also tied for the American League lead in errors at that position with 14.

Endy Chavez absent from Monday lineup
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:35 pm ET) Mariners outfielder Endy Chavez remains out of the lineup Monday in Cleveland with a pinky injury sustained on Saturday.

Chavez has been a solid contributor at times to a struggling offense this season. He boasts a stat line of .261/.286/.346. He has just six walks, however, in 153 at-bats.

Rob Rasmussen sent down after fine stretch
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:29 pm ET) The Blue Jays have demoted left-hander Rob Rasmussen to Triple-A Buffalo to make room for just-acquired third baseman Danny Valencia.

The 25-year-old Rasmussen, who had been called up last week, distinguished himself during his short stint with the team. He pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings with six strikeouts.

Francisco Lindor might be on verge of promotion to Indians
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:20 pm ET) The conventional wisdom is that veteran Mike Aviles or young Jose Ramirez will assume the starting shortstop job with the Indians if Asdrubal Cabrera is traded at the deadline, as has been rumored. But stud prospect Francisco Lindor could be throwing himself into the conversation.

The 20-year-old Lindor has raised his level of production since his promotion to Triple-A Columbus. He has 10 hits in 32 at-bats with two home runs and four RBI. He has scored seven runs in seven games.

The Indians could also be tempted to bring him up to spur fan interest, though it remains likely they wait until September. They rank second-last in the major leagues in average attendance per game.

Pain in foot a setback for Adam Lind in rehab
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:00 pm ET) Blue Jays designated hitter Adam Lind felt pain in his foot while running, a development that has pushed back his timetable for returning from an injury that landed him on the disabled list.

Lind, who is in Florida rehabbing from a broken foot, was anticipating rejoining the Blue Jays as early as Thursday. He has not played since July 7.

Report: Rockies evaluating players from three teams
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(12:47 pm ET) While it seems unlikely the Rockies will trade shortstop Troy Tulowitzki by Thursday's non-waiver deadline, MLB.com reports the team spent much of Monday evaluating major-league players and prospects from the Mets' organization. New York has been a team linked to Tulowitzki rumors in the last week.

MLB.com also reports the Rockies spent time evaluating players within the Cardinals and Angels organizations. They are considered two teams with money and major-league-ready players that would intrigue the Rockies' front office, if they were to inquire about a trade.

Report: 5-6 teams showing interest in LaTroy Hawkins
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(12:40 pm ET) After reporting Monday the Pirates were showing interest in Rockies closer LaTroy Hawkins, MLB.com reported Tuesday that sources acknowledged 5-6 teams are interested in trading for the 41-year-old reliever.

However, there are two issues complicating a trade for Hawkins. The Rockies are interested in keeping the veteran around because he's been a positive influence on the team's younger players. Also, the Rockies haven't been floored by a deal for a player that is under team control next season.
