Cubs 3B Kris Bryant not concerned with lack of homers
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(3:39 pm ET) Although he hit nine home runs in spring training and led the minors with 43 last year, Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is not too concerned that he has yet to connect this season, reports MLB.com.

"I could go the whole season without hitting a home run as long as we're winning games, and right now we're doing pretty good," Bryant said. "I know the type of player I am."

Bryant is hitting .280 with four doubles and 10 RBI this year.

"I'm sure that monkey coming off his back will help," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said.

Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett (hand) must prove he's ready before return
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(3:16 pm ET) Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennett (hand) will be eligible to return from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, but manager Ron Roenicke said he'll have to prove he's healthy and ready to play before he'll see action with the big club, reports JSOnline.com.

Gennett, who was placed on the DL after suffering a deep laceration to his left hand, is currently on a Class-A rehab assignment.

“He still needs to play well before we decide what we want to do,” Roenicke said. “I told him when he went down, ‘This isn’t going through the motions. This is going down to make sure you work to when we bring you back, you’re ready.’"

Mariners' Austin Jackson leaves game after rolling ankle
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

Jackson was called out, and he was replaced when the Mariners' defense took the field in the bottom of the third.

The team announced that Jackson suffered a sprained right ankle and would be reevaluated on Monday.
