Rays LF David DeJesus has success against Red Sox Porcello
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(3:21 pm ET) David DeJesus will man left field and bat fifth for the second consecutive game for the Rays in Tuesday night's matchup with the Red Sox. DeJesus has a lifetime .364 batting average (8 for 22) against Boston's starter Rick Porcello, so Rays manager Kevin Cash will hope his left fielder can continue that success Tuesday.

On the season, DeJesus is batting .259 with a home run and 10 RBI. He snapped a five-game hitless streak by going 2 for 4 on Monday.

Scuffling Phillies 2B Chase Utley benched for Tuesday game
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:19 pm ET) Slumping Phillies second baseman Chase Utley is getting Tuesday night off in Atlanta. Cesar Hernandez is set to play that position instead while Cody Asche will bat in his customary No. 3 spot.

Utley has been a mess at the plate all year. Aside from one three-hit game on April 14, he has just six hits in 2015. His current 2-for-35 slide has weakened his slash line to a meager .103/.182/.207.

Mets option Eric Campbell, add Johnny Monell to roster
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3:14 pm ET) The Mets optioned third baseman Eric Campbell to Triple-A Las Vegas Tuesday and selected the contract of catcher Johnny Monell, the team announced.

Campbell drew 15 straight starts at third base after David Wright hit the disabled list, but the team chose Friday to move Daniel Murphy to third base and play Dilson Herrera at second, an alignment to which they stuck throughout the weekend. Campbell hit just .200/.323/.320 with one home run and five RBI in 50 at-bats.

Monell will give the Mets another lefty bat off the bench moving forward. He has hit .397/.455/.638 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 58 at-bats with Triple-A Las Vegas.

Rays C Rene Rivera gets a breather on Tuesday vs. Red Sox
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(3:13 pm ET) Rays catcher Rene Rivera was held out of Tuesday's starting lineup against the Red Sox. Rivera has started six of the last eight games behind the plate for the Rays, and is batting a meager .115 over his last 26 at-bats (though he does have a home run in that span).

Bobby Wilson replaced Rivera as the backstop for manager Kevin Cash.

Braves add Brandon Cunniff back to bullpen, DFA Donnie Veal
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:11 pm ET) Braves reliever Brandon Cunniff was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. To clear a roster spot, reliever Donnie Veal was designated for assignment.

Cunniff went 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA in 10 relief appearances before being demoted to the minors in late April.

Veal had a 10.80 ERA in three relief outings.

Reds' Zack Cozart, Devin Mesoraco out of lineup Tuesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3:08 pm ET) Reds shortstop Zack Cozart (finger) and catcher Devin Mesoraco (hip) are not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Cozart sustained a finger injury while misplaying a groundball Sunday. It's the first time this season that the Reds haven't used him at shortstop to start the game. Kris Negron, who replaced Cozart Sunday, will bat seventh and play the position.

Mesoraco hasn't been in the starting lineup since the fifth game of the season but could see some starts later this week at designated hitter when the Reds play in an American League park.

The Reds are underdogs (+135) in Pittsburgh Tuesday, per VegasInsider.com.

RHP Chad Billingsley ready to roll for Tuesday comeback
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:08 pm ET) What was expected is now reality - the Phillies have announced that veteran right-hander Chad Billingsley has returned from his rehab assignment and is set to start Tuesday night in Atlanta.

It will mark his first outing in more than two years. The 30-year-old Billingsley has recovered from successive elbow surgeries.

Cardinals SP Garcia (shoulder) throws live batting practice Tues.
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(3:07 pm ET) Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia, who is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, threw a 70-pitch batting practice session on Tuesday. The Cardinals will wait to see how Garcia responds to the session on Wednesday before making any decisions on next steps, according to MLB.com

Braves' Jonny Gomes brings career success vs. Chad Billingsley
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2:46 pm ET) Braves left fielder Jonny Gomes is batting fifth for a third straight game Tuesday against the Phillies.

Chad Billingsley will be taking the mound for the Phillies for the first time this season, and it's a matchup that favors Gomes, who is 6 for 11 with a home run and four RBI in his career against the righty. The Braves outfielder has been much more successful against southpaws this season, however, and he has hit just .175/.214/.350 with two home runs in 40 at-bats against righties.

The Braves are favorites (-150) at home against the Phillies Tuesday.

Twins 2B Brian Dozier excelling from the top of the batting order
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(2:34 pm ET) In the nine games since the Twins seemingly gave up on having second baseman Brian Dozier bat cleanup in the batting order and moved him back to the top of the lineup, Dozier is batting .317 with four doubles, a triple, a home run, nine RBI and two stolen bases. He has hit safely in seven of those nine contests. Think this was the right move?

Dozier's hot-hitting continued in Monday's victory over the A's, when he went 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBI.

To put things in perspective, Dozier is batting a mere .185 with two RBI out of the No. 4 spot in the lineup. It may be a while before manager Paul Molitor decides to move Dozier out of the top of the order.
