Athletics' Melvin: 'We feel good about' Eric O'Flaherty
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4:40 pm ET) Athletics lefty reliever Eric O'Flaherty has struggled early this season, but manager Bob Melvin is still optimistic about the way the southpaw has pitched, CSN Bay Area reports.

"The movement’s there," Melvin said. "The ball is down, (though) maybe not as many strikes. … We feel good about (O’Flaherty). It’s just that sometimes there are going to be periods when it’s not working out. This is one of them right now. You can’t just walk away from it. Plus, you only have so many guys down there."

O'Flaherty has allowed eight earned runs in 6 1/3 innings while striking out seven and walking four in his first seven appearances.

Illness might not keep Red Sox 1B Napoli on bench Monday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:30 pm ET) Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli is not starting Monday against the White Sox, but that doesn't mean he won't play.

"He's under the weather," John Farrell told WEEI. "He's here, he's not completely unavailable, but he's not capable of starting right now. He's dealing with some illness."

Napoli has played in 18 of 19 games this season.
