Mets LF Michael Cuddyer smashes fourth home run of the season

(4:39 pm ET) Mets left fielder Michael Cuddyer went 1 for 2 at the plate in New York's 6-3 win over the Phillies on Monday.

Cuddyer did his damage in the fourth inning when he belted a leadoff home run off of Severino Gonzalez to left center field, his fourth of the season. Cuddyer, who also walked once and scored two runs, is now hitting .250 with 18 RBI in 156 at-bats on the season.


Mets SS Wilmer Flores blasts seventh home run of the season

(4:36 pm ET) Mets shortstop Wilmer Flores went 1 for 4 at the plate in New York's 6-3 win over the Phillies on Monday. Flores did his damage in the sixth inning when he crushed a three-run homer over the left field wall off of Julio De La Cruz, his seventh of the season.

Flores is now hitting .252 with 19 RBI in 143 at-bats on the season.


Yankees' Brian McCann slugs fifth home run Monday

(4:36 pm ET) Yankees catcher Brian McCann went 1 for 3 for two walks, two runs scored, a home run and three RBI in his team's 14-1 win over the Royals on Monday.

McCann smacked the second of three Yankee home runs in the first inning to give his team an 8-0 lead going into the second inning. His three-run blast was his fifth homer of the season, and he was on base for another three-run homer in the second inning.

McCann has hit .235/.299/.404 with five home runs and 28 RBI in 136 at-bats.


Mets 1B Lucas Duda blasts sixth home run of the season

(4:34 pm ET) Mets first baseman Lucas Duda went 1 for 3 at the plate in New York's 6-3 win over the Phillies on Monday. 

Duda did his damage in the third when he belted a solo home run off of Severino Gonzalez over the right field wall, his sixth of the season. Duda is now hitting .294 with 20 RBI on the season.


Yankees' Nathan Eovaldi tosses seven one-run innings Monday

(4:31 pm ET) Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi earned a win on Monday, giving up one earned run on eight hits and one walk in seven innings while striking out four in his team's 14-1 victory over the Royals.

Eovaldi (4-1) had plenty of room for error, as the offense rung up eight runs on three first-inning homers and added three more runs on another homer with no outs in the second. The Yankees starter was able to limit the Royals to an RBI single in the fifth inning.

Eovaldi owns a 4.27 ERA and 40:14 K:BB ratio in 52 2/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the A's on Saturday.


Reds LF Marlon Byrd blasts 10th home run of the season

(4:29 pm ET) Reds left fielder Marlon Byrd went 2 for 4 at the plate in Cincinnati's 5-4 loss to the Rockies on Monday. Byrd did his damage in the sixth inning when he blasted a leadoff home run off of Eddie Butler, his 10th of the season.

Byrd is now hitting .211 with 25 RBI in 147 at-bats this season.


Yankees' Chase Headley slugs sixth home run Monday

(4:25 pm ET) Yankees third baseman Chase Headley went 3 for 4 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in his team's 14-1 win over the Royals on Monday.

Headley may have been able to improve on his line but was removed for a pinch-runner the final time he made it on base. He opened the offensive explosion with a two-run home run in the first inning after the leadoff hitter got aboard and added an RBI double in the fifth.

Headley has hit .255/.309/.416 with six home runs and 21 RBI in 161 at-bats.


Royals' Jeremy Guthrie hammered for 11 runs vs. Yankees

(4:25 pm ET) Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie took the loss on Monday, allowing 11 earned runs on nine hits and three walks in one-plus innings in his team's 14-1 loss to the Yankees.

Guthrie (4-3) hadn't given up more than two runs in any of his last three starts, but he could not keep runners off base or the ball in the park in the first inning, with eight runs scoring on a trio of home runs. He opened the second inning by putting two more guys on base before serving up his fourth home run of the game, which ended his day with just three outs recorded.

Guthrie owns a 6.70 ERA and 19:16 K:BB ratio in 48 1/3 innings. He's slated to face the Cubs in Chicago on Sunday.


Reds 3B Todd Frazier smashes 13th home run of the season

(4:25 pm ET) Reds third baseman Todd Frazier went 1 for 4 at the plate in Cincinnati's 5-4 loss to the Rockies on Monday. 

Frazier did his damage in the first inning when he belted a two-run shot off of Eddie Butler to deep center field, his 13th of the season. Fraizier is now hitting .258 with 26 RBI in 163 at-bats this season.


Mets closer Jeurys Familia earns 14th save of the season

(4:20 pm ET) Mets closer Jeurys Familia worked a nearly perfect ninth inning on Monday in New York's 6-3 win over the Phillies, earning his 14th save of the season.

Familia got the first two outs of the inning on 14 pitches, including a strikeout of Carlos Ruiz. After a throwing error put a man on, Familia closed things up by forcing Ben Revere to lineout to first. Familia lowered his ERA to 1.69 in 21 1/3 innings of work.
