Felix Hernandez whiffs 10 O's in no-decision

(1:06 am ET) Mariners starting pitcher Felix Hernandez recorded double-digit strikeouts for the fifth time this season in a no-decision Friday night at home against the Orioles. The right-hander permitted one run on five hits and no walks while striking out 10 over seven innings of work.

Over his last three starts covering 22 innings, Hernandez has allowed only three earned runs. He owns a 1.99 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP over 22 starts (158 1/3 innings). He will look to get back in the win column Wednesday in Cleveland.


Nolan Arenado pulled for lack of hustle

(12:58 am ET) Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado was pulled for lack of hustle Friday, according to the Denver Post

Arenado hit a weak grounder in the fourth inning, but failed to run out the pitch. He was pulled by manager Walt Weiss before the next inning. Weiss said he pulled Arenado because he "didn't meet the standard." Arenado finished 0 for 2 prior to getting pulled. 


Shane Victorino hits his second home run

(12:44 am ET) Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino hit his second home run Friday.

Victorino struck in his first at-bat. On the third pitch he saw from David Price, Victorino hit an 88 mph cutter out to left for a solo shot. Victorino would later single. He finished 2 for 4, with one run scored and two RBI. 


Jose Bautista clubs two home runs

(12:36 am ET) Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista belted two home runs Friday against the Yankees. 

Bautista struck in his first at-bat. With two men on, he hit a three-run shot to left off Hiroki Kuroda. In his next at-bat, Bautista took an 82 mph slider out to left for a solo shot. Bautista later doubled in the game. He finished 3 for 4, with two runs scored and four RBI.


Carlos Santana belts two home runs Friday

(12:26 am ET) Indians third baseman Carlos Santana hit two home runs Friday against the Royals. 

Santana struck twice against Yordano Ventura. In the fourth inning, Santana crushed a 97 mph fastball out to right center for a solo shot. He did one better in his next at-bat, belting a 100 mph fastball out to right for a two-run shot. He finished 2 for 3, with two runs scored and three RBI. 


Alexei Ramirez hits his ninth home run Friday

(12:21 am ET) White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez hit his ninth home run Friday against the Rockies. 

Ramirez struck in the third inning. With the bases empty, Ramirez clubbed a solo shot on a 78 mph curveball from Kevin Correia. Ramirez also singled and walked during the game. He finished 2 for 5, with three runs scored and one RBI. 


Jose Abreu hits number 30

(12:17 am ET) White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu hit his 30th home run Friday against the Twins.

Abreu got to work immediately, hitting a home run in his first at-bat. With two men on, Abreu crushed a hanging curveball out to center for a three-run shot. Abreu also singled and was hit by a pitch during the game. He finished 2 for 5, with two runs scored and three RBI. 


Carlos Gonzalez belts 10th home run

(12:10 am ET) Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez belted his 10th home run Friday against the Pirates.

Gonzalez struck in the seventh inning. With one man on, he belted an 81 mph slider out to right for the two-run shot. Gonzalez finished 1 for 4, with one run scored and two RBI. 


Tommy Medica notches career-high four hits in win over Braves

(12:02 am ET) Padres first baseman Tommy Medica notched a career-high four hits in Friday's win over the Braves in Atlanta.

Medica singled in a run in the first, and singled in the third, fifth and seventh innings, respectively. He finished 4 for 5 with an RBI in a 5-2 win. He owns a .261/.301/.433 slash line with four homers and 16 RBI in 134 at-bats.

Ubaldo Jimenez to begin rehab next week

(12:00 am ET) Orioles pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez is set to begin a rehab assignment next week, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Jimenez tossed a two-inning simulated game Friday. As long as he feels good Saturday, he'll begin a rehab assignment. Manager Buck Showalter said Jimenez will likely need two starts before he's ready to return to the majors. Jimenez is working his way back from an ankle injury, but said it didn't give him any issues Friday. "I didn’t have any problems with my ankle," Jimenez said. "I didn’t have to think about it."
