Mike Minor roughed up Tuesday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10:35 pm ET) Braves pitcher Mike Minor got knocked around by the Marlins Tuesday.

Minor lasted just three innings, giving up six runs on 10 hits. Things could have actually been worse. Minor loaded the bases in the first inning before recording an out, but managed to escape after giving up just one run. After a quiet second inning, things went south. Minor walked the leadoff hitter to open the third, and allowed to straight hits to bring in another run. A ground out and single scored the other two runs during the inning.

Minor actually came out for the fourth, but was replaced after giving up three straight hits to open the inning. A run scored after Minor left the game, but was charged to him.

The loss dropped Minor to 3-6 on the year. He’s set to take on the Padres in his next start.

Royals to hold Eric Hosmer out Wednesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10:26 pm ET) Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer will be held out of Wednesday's series finale against the White Sox, MLB.com reports.

"It's definitely better," manager Ned Yost said before Tuesday's game. "He wanted to try to push it today, but he still has some weakness in his hand."

Hosmer has an active 16-game hitting streak, but the team is looking to rest him for a few days in hopes that the hand injury doesn't linger. He has hit .272/.319/.385 with six home runs and 44 RBI in 397 at-bats.

Peavy's streak of three quality starts came to an end with the ugly performance, and he's now 0-7 over his last nine starts. He owns a 4.72 ERA and 100:46 K:BB ratio in 124 innings.
