Rockies SP Yohan Flande not good enough against Arizona
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:08 pm ET) Wildness continued to plague Rockies rookie starter Yohan Flande on Tuesday night against Arizona.

Flande walked three in five innings, but gave up only two runs while fanning five. The runs scored on a Jarrod Saltalamacchia homer in the second and Phil Gosselin double in the third.

The left-hander has allowed 11 walks over his last 17 innings after giving up only one over his previous three outings combined.

Phillies 1B Darin Ruf drives in six runs in Tuesday's win
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(11:06 pm ET) Phillies first baseman Darin Ruf drove in a season-high six runs to help send the Phillies to a 14-8 win over the Mets on Tuesday.

Ruf went 3 for 5 at the plate with six RBI and two runs scored. His biggest hit came in the third when he connected for a three-run shot off Jonathon Niese.

Phillies SP Aaron Harang receives no-decision in Tuesday's win
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(11:04 pm ET) Phillies pitcher Aaron Harang was not able to get out of the fifth inning during Tuesday's 14-8 win over the Mets and received a no-decision as a result.

Harang allowed four runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings. He also struck out four and walked one. He surrendered a two-run home run to Yoenis Cespedes in the fifth inning.

Harang is winless in his last six starts.

Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin strong again in Tuesday win
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:02 pm ET) Consistency has eluded Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin since he emerged from the disabled list on Independence Day. But based on his last two outings, perhaps he has finally found it.

Corbin turned in his second straight strong effort Tuesday night at Colorado. He allowed two runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings with no walks and four strikeouts in raising his record to 4-3.

The lone runs against him came on homers by DJ LeMahieu in the second and Kyle Parker in the fifth. Corbin escaped a jam in the sixth by inducing Wilin Rosario to hit into a double play.

He has yielded only three runs over his last 12 1/3 innings.

Mets SP Jonathon Niese struggles in Tuesday's loss
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(10:57 pm ET) Mets pitcher Jonathon Niese got through the first two innings unscathed, but the third was his undoing during Tuesday's 14-8 loss to the Phillies.

Niese allowed five runs in the third en route to six runs on seven hits over five innings. He also struck out two and walked two. One of his mistakes was giving up a three-run home run to Darin Ruf in the third.

Niese had not lost his last eight outings prior to Tuesday's defeat.

Indians C Yan Gomes goes yard twice against Blue Jays
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:51 pm ET) Indians catcher Yan Gomes has been struggling since coming off the disabled list in late May. But he wasn't struggling Tuesday night in Toronto.

Gomes blasted two solo home runs, including one in the ninth that sent the game into extra innings. It marked his multi-hit game in nearly three weeks.

He has 11 home runs in 280 at-bats on the year.

Braves place Mike Foltynewicz on DL; Williams Perez to start Wednesday
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(10:51 pm ET) Braves pitcher Mike Foltynewicz was placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation near his rib area, reports the team's radio network.

With Foltynewicz on the DL, the team will turn to Williams Perez to start Wednesday's game against Miami. Perez went 4-5 with a 5.56 ERA in 14 starts earlier this season.

Cash: Rays 2B Logan Forsythe will be fine for Wednesday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:47 pm ET) Kevin Cash has stated that the groin strain that forced Rays second baseman Logan Forsythe out of the game Tuesday night is not serious and that he is expected to play Wednesday.

Forsythe left the game in the fifth inning.

Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna finally blows save
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:41 pm ET) Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna was bound to blow a save eventually. It just happened to come Tuesday night against Cleveland.

Osuna allowed a second home run in the game to catcher Yan Gomes with one out to tie it at 3-3.

It marked the first run he has allowed in his last 10 appearances.

Indians SP Cody Anderson holds down torrid Toronto
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:37 pm ET) Indians rookie starter Cody Anderson did not get a decision Tuesday night in Toronto, but he did take a giant step forward.

Anderson held the hottest-hitting team in baseball to just two runs on three hits in six innings with two walks and two strikeouts.

Sacrifice flies by Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista were all that Anderson would allow on the night.

It was easily his best outing since July 9. Four of his next five were not quality starts.
