(10:40 pm ET) Orioles closer Zach Britton earned his 36th save Tuesday, giving up one hit and striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning to finish off his team's 5-4 win over the Yankees.

Britton had managed just two strikeouts over his last eight appearances combined before posting a pair of Ks Tuesday. More importantly, he hasn't surrendered a run in 14 2/3 innings over his last 15 appearances. Britton owns a 1.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 61:22 K:BB ratio in 74 1/3 innings.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10:38 pm ET) Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz took a loss Tuesday, giving up five earned runs on eight hits and one walk in 7 2/3 innings while striking out six in his team's 6-2 defeat against the Rays.

Buchholz (8-10) cruised through seven scoreless innings before coming unglued in the eighth. He had two men on and two outs before giving up a double and a single to bring home three runs. After a passed ball and a hit batsman, the starter was removed from the game, only to see two of the runners he left on base score. Buchholz owns a 5.31 ERA and 128:53 K:BB ratio in 164 1/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Yankees in the season finale Sunday.

(10:37 pm ET) Rays pitcher Alex Cobb earned a win Tuesday, giving up just one earned run on five hits and two walks in seven innings and striking out three in his team's 6-2 victory over the Red Sox.

Cobb (10-8) looked like he'd be in line for a hard-luck loss, as a fourth-inning RBI double represented the only run scored in the first seven innings, but the Rays offense was able to break through for five runs in the eighth. Cobb owns a 2.75 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 144:47 K:BB ratio in 160 1/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Indians in Sunday's season finale.

Ubaldo Jimenez allows two runs in win vs. Yankees
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10:34 pm ET) Orioles pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez picked up a win Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on three hits and three walks in five-plus innings while striking out three in his team's 5-4 victory over the Yankees.

Jimenez (6-9) gave up only a run on a fourth-inning groundout and was removed after the first two batters in the sixth inning reached base safely, with one coming around to score. He's won both of his starts since being moved to the bullpen in August, but he isn't scheduled to make another. Jimenez owns a 4.85 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 113:77 K:BB ratio in 124 1/3 innings.

Price delivered eight scoreless innings but ran into trouble while going for the complete game. The White Sox managed five hits in the ninth inning to score three runs and tie the game before the Tigers pulled off a walkoff win in the bottom half of the inning.
