Dodgers fear Hyun-Jin Ryu could be done for regular season
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(6:54 pm ET) Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu underwent an MRI on his injured left shoulder, which showed no changes from his MRI in May, the team announced. Manager Don Mattingly is bracing for the possibility that Ryu will not be available again in the regular season, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Ryu will not pitch Wednesday against the Rockies. Instead, he'll be shut down for at least four days before he is re-evaluated again. The team has not established a timetable for his return.

Josh Hamilton could serve as a designated hitter Tuesday
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(6:37 pm ET) Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton felt a little tight but did not experience any pain after three rounds of batting practice prior to Monday's game against the Mariners. He also ran the bases before the game. According to the Los Angeles Times, Hamilton could be healthy enough to serve as a designated hitter on Tuesday.

Hamilton has been sidelined since Sept. 4 because of a right shoulder injury. He batted .263 with 10 homers and 44 RBI over 335 at-bats.

Padres not looking to slow down Tyson Ross
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6:23 pm ET) Even though Tyson Ross' worst start of the season Saturday at Arizona also happened to be his first since topping his previous career high in innings by 40, the Padres ace doesn't think the workload is catching up to him.

"I think it's just a bump in the road," Ross told the San Diego Union-Tribune Saturday. "It could have been the 31st start. It could have been the third start. It was bound to happen and the key for me is to get a good night's rest, come to the park [Sunday] and start my process all over again and prepare for the next one."

Manager Bud Black said the Padres don't plan to limit Ross' workload over the final two weeks.

"It's good for Tyson to finish the season strong as he goes into the winter knowing that he's done it once he can do it again -- break 200 innings, make 33, 34 starts," Black said. "That means a lot to a pitcher as far as confidence and the mental edge that that brings, knowing that you can do that."
