Tigers RP Bruce Rondon to make rehab appearance Tuesday
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(4:16 pm ET) Tigers reliever Bruce Rondon will make another rehab appearance Tuesday in Triple-A, manager Brad Ausmus told the Detroit Free-Press. Rondon, who has not pitched in 2015 due to a biceps injury, is strengthening his arm in the hopes of returning to the Detroit bullpen.

One more hurdle for Rondon will be throwing on back-to-back nights, and right now, the plan is to have the reliever pitch on Friday and Saturday after two days off.

Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado blasts ninth home run of the year
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(4:16 pm ET) Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado went 3 for 4 at the plate in Colorado's 5-4 win over the Reds on Monday.

Arenado started things off in the first when he ripped an RBI single to left field. Then in the fourth, Arenado blasted a solo shot to deep left center field off of Jason Marquis, his ninth of the season.

Arenado is now hitting .287 with 28 RBI in 157 at-bats this season.

Reds pitcher Jason Marquis struggles in start on Monday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(4:16 pm ET) Reds pitcher Jason Marquis allowed four runs, two earned, on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings of work in Cincinnati's 5-4 loss to the Rockies on Monday, but did not factor into a decision.

Marquis had issues in the first inning when he surrendered an RBI single to Nolan Arenado with a man on second. Then in the second, Marquis gave up another RBI single with runners on second and third to DJ LeMahieu, plating two runs. Marquis then allowed a solo home run to Nolan Arenado in the fourth.

Marquis, who remains 3-4, moved his ERA to 6.46 in 47 1/3 innings of work. He will look to bounce back Sunday against the Nationals.

Rockies pitcher Eddie Butler knocked around in no-decision
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(4:16 pm ET) Rockies pitcher Eddie Butler allowed four runs on nine hits in six innings of work in Colorado's 5-4 win the Reds on Monday, but did not factor into a decision.

Butler had issues beginning in the first inning when after a one-out double by Joey Votto, he surrendered a two-run home run to Todd Frazier. Then in the fourth, Butler allowed an RBI single to Billy Hamilton with two men on. Butler gave up one more run on a solo shot by Marlon Byrd in the sixth.

Butler, who remains 2-5, moved his ERA to 4.60 with one strikeout and two walks on the day. He will look to get back on track Sunday against the Phillies.

Rockies closer John Axford wraps up seventh save on Monday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(4:15 pm ET) Rockies closer John Axford worked a nearly perfect inning on Monday in Colorado's 5-4 win over the Reds, earning his seventh save of the season.

Axford worked through the first two hitters with ease, needing just three pitches. After a walk to Todd Frazier, Axford finished things off by getting Jay Bruce to pop out to center field. Axford lowered his ERA to 0.82 in 11 innings of work.

Astros' George Springer homers, collects three hits Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4:13 pm ET) Astros right fielder George Springer went 3 for 5 with a solo home run in his team's 4-3 loss to the Orioles.

Springer put his team on the board with his third-inning homer, and the Astros were able to take the lead in the fifth but couldn't hold it over the remainder of the game. Springer has delivered four multihit efforts in his last six games to boost his line to .224/.347/.434 with seven home runs, 17 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 143 at-bats.

Orioles' Zach Britton earns 11th save Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4:09 pm ET) Orioles closer Zach Britton picked up his 11th save on Monday, tossing a 1-2-3 ninth inning in his team's 4-3 win over the Astros.

Britton struck out one while throwing just 10 pitches in the save. It's his fourth straight scoreless outing and his third without allowing a runner on base. He owns a 2.60 ERA and 23:3 K:BB ratio in 17 1/3 innings.

Astros' Dallas Keuchel takes complete-game loss Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4:06 pm ET) Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel was stuck with a complete-game loss on Monday, allowing four earned runs on six hits and one walk in eight innings while striking out three in his team's 4-3 defeat against the Orioles.

Keuchel (6-1) surrendered a two-run homer in the second inning to fall behind, but his offense was able to take a 3-2 lead in the fifth. That score didn't hold, as the Orioles managed another two-run homer in the seventh.

Though it's Keuchel's first loss, it's the third time in his last four starts that he's allowed four earned runs after surrendering just four runs combined over his first six starts.

Keuchel owns a 1.98 ERA and 49:21 K:BB ratio in 72 2/3 innings. He's in line to face the White Sox on Sunday.

Williams: Nationals SP Doug Fister might miss another start
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:06 pm ET) Matt Williams has declared that Nationals shelved right-hander Doug Fister might be sidelined a bit longer than expected with continued tightness in his right forearm.

"They're working that out," he told the Washington Post. "At some point this week, he'll start the program, and go from there. The longer he's out, the longer it's gonna take [to get back]. So we have to keep on top of that."

Tanner Roark is set to start in his place Monday, but Williams indicated that Fister might also miss another starter after his eligibility to come off the DL.

Orioles' Wei-Yin Chen strikes out six in no-decision vs. Astros
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3:59 pm ET) Orioles pitcher Wei-Yin Chen didn't factor into the decision on Monday, allowing three earned runs on 11 hits in five innings while striking out six and walking none in his team's 4-3 win over the Astros.

Chen was staked to a 2-0 lead after the second inning, but he served up a solo home run in the third inning and followed it up by giving up two runs on a bloop single in the fifth. It was the first time in six starts that the starter failed to complete six innings.

Chen owns a 3.13 ERA and 44:14 K:BB ratio in 54 2/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Rays on Saturday.
