R.A. Dickey will make one more start before the break

(5:23 pm ET) Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey will make one final start before the All-Star break -- on Sunday against the Rays in Tampa Bay, Sportsnet.ca reports Friday. The move was made based on his track record at Tropicana Field. Dickey is 2-2 with a 3.64 ERA over eight appearances (six starts) in his career in Tampa Bay.

Brett Oberholtzer to start Saturday for ailing Collin McHugh

(5:17 pm ET) Astros manager Bo Porter announced a change to the team's pitching plans for Saturday's game against the Red Sox Friday.

With Collin McHugh dealing with a figure injury, the Astros will have Brett Oberholtzer start in his place Saturday against the Red Sox. McHugh will be scratched from the start and sill instead take the All-Star break to heal before the team decides when to put him back in the rotation. 


Nationals hope to have Ian Desmond back Saturday

(5:02 pm ET) Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond could return to action Saturday.

Manager Matt Williams said Desmond's hand is a little sore, but the club expects quick improvement. He added that he's hopeful Desmond will return to the lineup Saturday. Desmond is hitting .241/.293/.429 over 345 at-bats. 


Corey Dickerson sits again Friday

(4:59 pm ET) Rockies outfielder Corey Dickerson was not in the team's starting lineup Friday against the Twins.

Dickerson is dealing with a wrist injury. It's unclear whether he's out for injury reasons, or whether the return of Carlos Gonzalez pushed Dickerson to the bench. Dickerson is hitting .327/.392/.589 over 202 at-bats. 


Carlos Gonzalez returns to action Friday

(4:57 pm ET) Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez returned to action Friday against the Twins. 

Gonzalez will play right field and hit third in his return. He has not played since early June due to a finger injury. Gonzalez is hitting .255/.307/.449 over 196 at-bats. 


Elvis Andrus misses minimal time with ankle injury

(4:55 pm ET) Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus was forced out of Thursday's game with an ankle injury, but it proved to be a non-issue.

Andrus was back in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels, after missing just the final six innings of Thursday's game. 


Kevin Gausman returns to start in pre-break weekend

(4:49 pm ET) Orioles pitcher Kevin Gausman was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk Friday, after Ubaldo Jimenez was placed on the disabled list with an ankle injury.

Gausman was optioned to Norfolk earlier in the week to make room on the roster. According to the Baltimore Sun, Gausman will start at some point during the final two games before the All-Star break, either Saturday or Sunday against the Yankees. 


Homer Bailey reiterates that he'll make his next start

(4:46 pm ET) Reds pitcher Homer Bailey said his knee feels better Friday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer

Bailey added that he believes he'll have no problem making his next start. He was removed from Thursday's game after just five innings due to the injury. Following the start, the team announced Bailey would be ready to make his next start. Through 177 2/3 innings, Bailey has a 4.21 ERA. 


Ubaldo Jimenez hits DL with ankle injury

(4:38 pm ET) The Orioles placed pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez on the 15-day disabled list Friday, due to an ankle injury.

Jimenez apparently suffered the injury while walking in the parking lot Wednesday, as manager Buck Showalter told reporters. The extent of the injury is not yet known, however the All-Star break gives him some extra time to heal without missing multiple starts. 


Adam Lind to miss 2-3 weeks with foot injury

(4:29 pm ET) Blue Jays designated hitter Adam Lind's foot injury is not as serious as initially thought, reports SportsNet.ca Friday.

Lind was expected to miss six-to-eight weeks with a fracture in his foot according to reports Thursday, but further evaluation has given a much brighter picture. SportsNet.ca reports Lind will instead miss only another two-to-three weeks while healing. He will spend the next week or so in a walking boot before he takes his next step.
