Rockies P John Axford moved to restricted list, now day to day
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(3:04 pm ET) With Rockies pitcher John Axford's family medical emergency leave expiring on Sunday, the team has moved him to the restricted list, reports the Denver Post.

The move allows the Rockies to bring Axford back any day.

Axford has pitched in one inning so far this season.

Slow start doesn't have Rangers' Adrian Beltre worried
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3:04 pm ET) Adrian Beltre endured a recent 0-for-14 slump and is hitting .140 on the season for the Rangers.

The 36-year-old doesn't seem concerned, however. "I’ve been through this several times," he said, per the Star Telegram. "I’m confident. I’m confident in what I can do. I feel good. I’m healthy. It’s a six-month season, not a two-week season."

"I could get four hits today and three hits tomorrow, and then where am I?" he added. "All the worrying is just a waste of time."

Danny Santana still Twins' leadoff man, despite day off on Sunday
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(2:57 pm ET) Twins shortstop Danny Santana was out of the starting lineup on Sunday, but manager Paul Molitor gave him a vote of confidence.

"I still like Danny at the top for the most part," Molitor said, per TwinCities.com. "I don't think I'm going to be changing that too much in the short term when he's playing. We're going to play that out for a while. I like him leading off."

Melky Cabrera not worried about White Sox's slow start at plate
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(2:53 pm ET) White Sox outfielder Melky Cabrera isn't worried about the team's slow start at the plate. He's still impressed with the Chicago offense.

"This is a very good one, one of the best," he said, per MLB.com. "You have speed and you have power. You have everything and that's good for us. It makes you feel good, comfortable, when you are playing in a lineup like this."

"Our best way to handle the expectation is to keep the focus simple," he added. "To try hard every day and just think of what we can do and not what else the other teams can do. Just think of us and be confident in our talent."

Rangers GM won't interfere with Russell Wilson's plans
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(2:46 pm ET) Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said that despite Russell Wilson having the drive to play professional baseball, he will not interfere with Wilson's current career as quarterback for the Seahawks, reports the Star-Telegram.com..

Wilson recently told HBO's "Real Sports" that he does have the ambition to one day play both sports and that the Rangers, who own his rights, would give him a shot is he wants.

Micah Johnson hasn't been on base enough to show White Sox his speed
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(2:45 pm ET) White Sox rookie second baseman Micah Johnson is off to a slow start, hitting .190 and looking shaky in the field.

Manager Robin Ventura plans to leave him on the field, though. "All of it becomes an evaluation mode, especially when a guy, it’s his first time," Ventura said, per the Sun Times. "But you also have to give him a little leeway. It’s his first time going through it, and he has to be able to adjust, and there’s probably a slight over-effort part for him right now of trying to prove things instead of just playing the game. I think he’s better off when he’s just playing the game and he’s not sitting there thinking he has to prove himself."

Johnson also hasn't had the chance to show off his speed, one of the factors that earned him a spot in the lineup to start the season. He had 84 steals in the minor leagues two years ago.

"The opportunities need to be there," Ventura said. "Micah hasn’t really been on as much as you like. You can only do so much with that. You have to have the right opportunities to be able to do it. Do you expect more of those? I would, of them getting on base and being able to steal."

White Sox David Robertson helping Zach Putnam learn cutter
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(2:39 pm ET) White Sox closer David Robertson learned the cutter from one of baseball's best practitioners of the pitch--Mariano Rivera.

Robertson is now passing on that knowledge to Chicago bullpen-mate Zach Putnam

"I'm trying to have him impart some of that knowledge on to me as I develop that pitch as a third pitch," Putnam said, per MLB.com. "It was almost surreal listening to him talk yesterday. He was like, 'Mo holds his like this and does this with it,' and I'm like, 'I wish I had a camera to record all this so I have it for future reference.' But I'm trying to learn from him whenever I can."

Dodgers RF Yasiel Puig (hamstring) likely to start on Tuesday
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(2:32 pm ET) Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is likely to rejoin the lineup for Tuesday's game in San Francisco, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Puig had missed three games with tightness in the hamstring before playing Saturday, but experienced pain and is out of the lineup again for Sunday.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Puig is "sore" but "hopefully nothing serious."

Wesley Wright may return to Orioles sooner than expected
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(2:24 pm ET) Orioles pitcher Wesley Wright's left shoulder, which has him on the disabled list, is doing better, manager Buck Showalter said, per MASN Sports

Wright was initially expected to be out until mid-May, but Showalter said he could return sooner than expected. He's eligible to come off the DL next week.

Orioles' J.J. Hardy hits off tee, will hit in cage on Monday
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(2:20 pm ET) Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy hit off a tee on Sunday.

Hardy is on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury. He's expected to hit in the batting cage on Monday, per MASN Sports

"We knew it wasn't going to be really quick," said manager Buck Showalter. "We just want to get it right the first time. I just hope it's not something that lingers, but if it does, we'll wait."
