Joey Terdoslavich hopes to return to Braves lineup Wednesday
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(7:51 pm ET) Joey Terdoslavich took batting practice on Tuesday and hopes to return to the field Wednesday, after missing 10 days with a wrist injury.

Terdoslavich sprained his left wrist while diving to make a tag on March 21.

"It’s just weird the way it happened, just kind of a freak thing," Terdoslavich said, per the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "But a wrist and hand with a hitter is just like a pitcher with a (sore) elbow or shoulder. You don’t want to have it linger all year."

Terdoslavich is hitting .278 this spring. He's competing with Kelly Johnson for a bench spot on the Braves' roster.

Giants add Justin Maxwell to 40-man roster, DFA Gary Brown
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:37 pm ET) The Giants announced Tuesday that outfielder Justin Maxwell has been added to the team's 40-man roster while outfielder Gary Brown has been designated for assignment.

The Giants had plenty of time to look at Maxwell in camp, and he delivered a .317/.359/.517 line with two home runs, 11 RBI and two stolen bases in 60 at-bats before going 3 for 3 at the plate with three RBI Tuesday.

Brown hit .154/.250/.256 in 39 spring at-bats.

Brandon Moss hits fourth spring homer for Indians
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(7:34 pm ET) Indians outfielder Brandon Moss hit his fourth home run of the spring on Tuesday, hitting a two-run shot off Felix Hernandez.

Moss went two for three with three RBI. The performance raised his spring average to .297. He has eight RBI on the spring.

Rangers' Derek Holland struggles in final spring start
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:32 pm ET) Rangers pitcher Derek Holland allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings while striking out four in Tuesday's 15-10 loss to the Cubs.

Holland threw three scoreless innings in his spring debut but couldn't match his success Tuesday, giving up just one run through four innings before the Cubs racked up four more runs in the fifth. He was making just his second start of Cactus League play after dealing with shoulder soreness earlier in camp. Holland is expected to pitch the team's home opener April 10.

Cardinals utility man Ty Kelly to open season in Triple-A
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(7:30 pm ET) Cardinals utility infielder Ty Kelly will begin the season in Triple-A to develop his defense more at second base, shortstop and even the outfielder, reports MLB.com.

Kelly will also see some time as the emergency catcher.

"Just be a guy who uses all those gloves he's toting around all the time," manager Mike Matheny said.

Kelly is hitting .194 this spring with a double and a triple in 36 plate appearances.

Felix Hernandez hammered in Mariners' start on Tuesday
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(7:30 pm ET) Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez gave up seven runs in one and two thirds innings on Tuesday. Hernandez gave up five hits, including a home run, and walked two.

Hernandez dropped to 0-3 on the spring, and his ERA ballooned to 10.22.

Brewers SP Jimmy Nelson staying positive despite struggles
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:27 pm ET) Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson allowed 10 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings in a Triple-A outing Monday and has posted a 6.23 ERA in four Cactus League starts, but he and pitching coach Rick Kranitz are focusing on the positives, MLB.com reports.

"This is a tough game, but everybody here is good at taking the positives out of things, and that's what you have to do in this game or it will break you down pretty good," Nelson said. "I've been trying to take the positives from every outing I've had and keep them in the back of my mind and remember how that felt, whether it's mechanically or mentally or anything like that. The pieces are there, I'm just putting them together."

Kranitz indicated that he saw improvement in Nelson's slider Monday.

"We saw some really good things," said Kranitz. "We needed to have him put guys away with the slider, and yesterday, there it was."

Nelson said his confidence remains high heading into Saturday's final spring start.

"I really have just been focused on attacking the strike zone," Nelson said. "Things we can control as pitchers are walks. Hits are going to happen. I've really been trying to cut down my walks first and foremost, and build off that. It's building blocks. First you have to get the strike zone. Then you have to command certain parts of the strike zone. Then you can start doing more advanced stuff."

Dodgers pitcher Joe Wieland tagged for nine hits Tuesday
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(7:21 pm ET) Dodgers pitcher Joe Wieland surrendered two runs on nine hits in five innings of work Tuesday against the Dodgers. Wieland, who may replace Hyun-Jin Ryu to begin the season, added one strikeout and did not issue a walk in his outing.

Wieland finishes spring training with a 1.93 ERA and 10 strikeouts in five starts.

Brewers' Mike Fiers gives up three runs in five innings vs. Reds
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:20 pm ET) Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers made his final start of the Cactus League season Tuesday, surrendering three earned runs on three hits and four walks in five innings and striking out three in his team's 10-4 loss to the Reds.

Fiers has dealt with shoulder weakness this spring but was able to turn in his longest outing of the spring Tuesday, throwing at least four innings for the first time. He has posted a 4.73 ERA and 6:9 K:BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings. He's expected to make his regular-season debut April 10 against the Pirates.

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
