Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu to throw bullpen this week
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(7:39 pm ET) Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu is scheduled to throw a bullpen session in the next couple of days and possibly as early as Sunday, according to the L.A. Times.

Ryu, who is currently on the 15-day DL with a shoulder injury, remains without a timetable for his return to the pitching staff. He has been unable to throw in a game so far this season after posting a 14-7 record in 2014 with a 3.38 ERA and 139 strikeouts.

Red Sox bring up RHP Matt Barnes from Triple-A
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7:30 pm ET) Right-hander Matt Barnes has been promoted by the Red Sox from Triple-A Pawtucket to take the place of shelved outfielder Shane Victorino.

Barnes, who was one of the last cuts off the big-league roster before the regular season, has struggled in the minors this year to the tune of five earned runs in eight innings in two starts. He pitched five games in relief late last year with the Red Sox.

Athletics starter Kendall Graveman gives up six runs in loss on Saturday
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(7:25 pm ET) Athletics starting pitcher Kendall Graveman (1-2) allowed six earned runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings on Saturday to take the loss against the Astros.

Graveman struck out one and walked one and was tagged for a home run off Jose Altuve.

Graveman's next start is Friday in Texas.

Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria blasts off in defeat of Nationals
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7:21 pm ET) For a guy hitting eighth in the lineup, Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria is certainly doing one heck of an impression of a slugger.

Hechavarria maintained his status Saturday one of the hottest hitters in the sport by slamming a three-run homer in the eighth inning of a lopsided defeat of the Nationals. It marked his second three-RBI performance in the last three games.

The 26 year old owns an eight-game hitting streak in which he is 14-for-31. He has been particularly hot lately with 11 hits in 16 at-bats and six RBI in the last four games. Hechavarria has 13 RBI and 15 runs scored in 17 games on the year.

Sizzling Giancarlo Stanton keys Saturday win for Marlins
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7:12 pm ET) It took Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton 10 days this season to get his booming bat going. But he has certainly made up for lost time.

Stanton not only slugged his fifth homer in the last 10 games in a waltz Saturday over Washington, but he singled, doubled and walked to send his slugging percentage soaring to a season-high .569.

He was involved in the rout throughout. He doubled in a run and scored in the fourth, walked and scored in the sixth, then put the cherry on top with a 419-foot clout in the eighth.

Astros starting pitcher Scott Feldman pitches into seventh to earn win
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(7:11 pm ET) Astros starting pitcher Scott Feldman (2-2) yielded three earned runs on five hits and struck out six in 6 2/3 innings Saturday to defeat the Athletics.

Feldman was pulled in the seventh inning after allowing a two-run triple to second baseman Eric Sogard.

Feldman's next start is set for Thursday against the Mariners.

Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira hits fifth homer in six games
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(7:05 pm ET) In their lopsided loss to the Mets on Saturday, Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira stayed hot with another home run -- his fifth in six games.

Saturday's blast for Teixeira was a seventh-inning solo shot off Mets starter Matt Harvey.

Nationals' Stephen Strasburg struggles Saturday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7:05 pm ET) Underachieving Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg continued to baffle the baseball world rather than opposing hitters Saturday.

Strasburg maintained his mediocrity in a loss to Miami, yielding four earned runs on eight hits in six innings to lower his record to 1-2 and raise his ERA to 4.88. He struck out six to give him 23 in 24 innings on the year, but he has had three bad outings in four starts.

The right-hander was rolling along through three, but doubles to Martin Prado and Giancarlo Stanton and single by Justin Bour in the fourth resulted in two runs. Three singles and a double play in the sixth doubled the output and all but ended his night.

Strasburg will try against Thursday on the road against the torrid Mets.

Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury pulled with hip tightness
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(7:04 pm ET) Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury was removed from Saturday's game against the Mets after feeling his hip tightened up, according to manager Joe Girardi per MLB.com.

Girardi is hopeful Ellsbury will be back in the lineup for Sunday's game. Ellsbury went 0 for 3 with a strikeout before being pulled. He's hitting .282 with a home run and two RBI in 71 at-bats this season.

Mets catcher, 2012 first-round pick Kevin Plaweck hits first career HR
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(7:01 pm ET) Mets catcher and recent call up Kevin Plawecki delivered his first career major league home run on Saturday against the Yankees .

Plawecki, the Mets 2012 first-round draft pick, was called up mid-week following the fractured-finger injury to regular catcher Travis d'Arnaud.

Plawecki became the first player to hit his first MLB homer in a Subway Series game.
