Bud Norris pitches seven strong in no-decision

(12:29 am ET) Orioles pitcher Bud Norris twirled a gem Thursday night in a no-decision against the Angels. The right-hander allowed eight hits and one walk while striking out four over seven innings of a 1-0 defeat in extras.

Over his last three starts covering 18 2/3 innings, Norris has allowed five earned runs. He owns a 3.69 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP over 18 starts (109 2/3 innings). He will make his next start Tuesday in Toronto.

Huston Street converts 28th save in extras

(12:25 am ET) Angels closer Huston Street struck out one and needed 18 pitches to retire the side in order Thursday night against the Orioles in 13 innings. He has converted 28 of 29 save attempts, with a 0.95 ERA and a 0.74 WHIP over 38 innings of relief. He has not allowed an earned run over his first five innings of work with his new club.

Hector Santiago picks up the win in extras

(12:22 am ET) Angels pitcher Hector Santiago (3-7) pitched two innings of relief in extras and picked up the win Thursday night against the Orioles. Making his fifth relief appearance of the season, Santiago pitched the 11th and 12th innings, and allowed two hits and two walks while striking out two in a 1-0 victory. He owns a 3.76 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP over 79 innings of work.

Tyler Skaggs to be evaluated Friday

(12:15 am ET) Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs told reporters that the doctor that checked him out said his ulnar collateral ligament "is fine," per the Orange County Register. Manager Mike Scioscia is not overly concerned "long term" with Skagg's injury, according to MLB.com. The right-hander is expected to be further evaluated on Friday.

Chad Qualls serves up go-ahead homer against Blue Jays

(12:11 am ET) Astros closer Chad Qualls took the loss Thursday night at home against the Blue Jays. Qualls permitted a go-ahead solo home run to Nick Reimold in the ninth inning, which proved to be the difference. He was charged with one run on one hit and no walks while striking out two over an inning of work. He owns a 3.35 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP over 37 2/3 innings of relief.

Jake Buchanan settles for no-decision in spot start

(12:06 am ET) Astros pitcher Jake Buchanan was unable to factor into the decision in a spot start Thursday night against the Blue Jays. The right-hander permitted three runs on five hits and no walks while striking out three over five innings of a 6-5 defeat.

Buchanan owns a 5.51 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP over 16 1/3 innings of work. It remains to be seen if he'll remain in the rotation.

Casey Janssen closes out Astros

(12:00 am ET) Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen worked his way past a walk and needed only 13 pitches to complete a scoreless ninth inning for the save Thursday night against the Astros in Houston. He has converted 18 of 20 save attempts, with a 2.86 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP over 28 1/3 innings of relief.

Drew Hutchison gets blasted in no-decision

(7/31/2014) Blue Jays pitcher Drew Hutchison was blasted on Thursday against the Astros in Houston, but managed to escape his outing with a no-decision. The right-hander was pulled after three innings and allowed four runs on six hits and no walks while striking out two.

Hutchison has allowed four-plus runs in three of his last four starts. He owns a 4.62 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP over 22 starts (122 2/3 innings). He will make his next start Wednesday at home against Baltimore.

Greg Holland retires the side in order for the save

(7/31/2014) Royals closer Greg Holland struck out one and needed only 14 pitches to retire the side in order in the ninth to close out a 6-3 victory. The right-hander has converted 29 of 31 save attempts, with a 1.77 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP over 40 2/3 innings of relief.

Yordano Ventura gets back on track in win over Twins

(7/31/2014) Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura got back on track with a quality start against the Twins on Thursday, improving to 8-8 on the year. The right-hander permitted two runs -- one earned -- on five hits and three walks while striking out seven over seven innings of a 6-3 victory.

Over his last two starts covering 13 1/3 innings, Ventura has allowed four earned runs. He owns a 3.50 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP over 121 innings. He will make his next start Wednesday at Arizona.
