Giants SS Brandon Crawford good to go for Monday vs. Dodgers
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:19 pm ET) Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford has returned to the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers. Crawford has not played since leaving Tuesday's game with an oblique injury.

But he's been given the green light to return on Monday. He'll be at shortstop and bat sixth in the series-opener against the division-rival Dodgers.

Cubs land CF Austin Jackson in trade with Mariners
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(6:15 pm ET) The Cubs have acquired outfielder Austin Jackson in a deal with the Mariners. Seattle will received a player to be named later, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

Jackson has had a decent season with the Mariners, slashing .272/.312/.387 with eight homers and 38 RBI in 107 games. He will provide solid outfield depth for the Cubs, who are currently without Jorge Soler.

The Mariners, meanwhile, will likely roll with a combination of Brad Miller, Franklin Gutierrez and Ketel Marte in center field for the bulk of what's left in 2015.

Jackson had been in the starting lineup for the Mariners' game against the Astros on Monday. It is not yet known when Jackson is expected to report to the Cubs, who open up a three-game series at home with the Reds on Monday.

Cardinals' Carlos Martinez (back) won't start on Tuesday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5:51 pm ET) Cardinals right-hander Carlos Martinez will not make his next scheduled start on Tuesday. Martinez is dealing with a back issue that will cause him to be skipped this time through the rotation.

The Cardinals have not said when Martinez is expected to take the mound next. Marco Gonzales is a likley candidate to replace him for Tuesday's matchup with the Nationals, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Rangers 2B Rougned Odor returns to lineup on Monday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5:27 pm ET) Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor is back in the starting lineup for Monday's matchup with the Padres. Odor has not played since injuring his finger on a play during Tuesday's game.

Odor is at the keystone position while batting fifth for the Rangers on Monday.

Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar returns to lineup on Monday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(4:45 pm ET) Heading into a big three-game series with the Cardinals, The Nationals have gotten a little bit healthier on Monday. Third baseman Yunel Escobar is back in the starting lineup, batting fifth while manning the hot corner.

Escobar had not played since leaving Thursday's game with a hand injury following a hit-by-pitch.

Phil Gosselin (thumb) activated by D-Backs; Allen Webster optioned
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(4:42 pm ET) As expected, The Diamondbacks activated infielder Phil Gosselin from the 60-day disabled list on Monday. Gosselin, who was acquired from the Braves in the middle of June, has been out since May after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured thumb.

Gosselin is in Monday's starting lineup against the Rockies. He is batting seventh while playing second base.

To clear room for him on the roster, the D-Backs have optioned right-hander Allen Webster to Triple-A Reno.

Astros SS Carlos Correa returns to the lineup on Monday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(4:21 pm ET) Astros shortstop Carlos Correa is back in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners. Correa missed four straight games due to a hamstring injury, but after going through pre-game drills, the Astros gave him the green light to return.

Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (leg) still out on Monday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(3:48 pm ET) Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira remains out of the starting lineup Monday against the Red Sox. Teixiera hasn't played since a ninth-inning pinch-hit appearance on Wednesday, as he continues to be bothered by a bone bruise in his leg.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi noted that Teixeira has been sent back to New York for further testing, and he is not likely to play in the three-game series against the Red Sox.
