Chris Colabello homers in Blue Jays' loss

(5:17 pm ET) Blue Jays first baseman Chris Colabello hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning of Saturday's loss to Detroit. 

Colabello went 2 for 4 and snapped a five game extra-base-hit drought. He hit his seventh homer and drove in his 31st run. He's now hit in four of the last five games. 


Rangers option SP Chi Chi Gonzalez to Triple-A on Saturday

(5:16 pm ET) Rangers starter Chi Chi Gonzalez has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock, the team announced on Saturday. Gonzalez was lit up for six runs over 1 1/3 innings on Friday, though he had been quite impressive in his six previous starts. But his 15:19 K:BB ratio is certainly an area of concern.

Overall, the young right-hander posted a 3.74 ERA in the first seven starts of his career. 

To take his spot on the roster, the Rangers have right-hander Anthony Ranaudo from Round Rock.


Red Sox Xander Bogaerts doubles, collects two RBI

(5:14 pm ET) Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Astros.

Bogaerts is hitting an eye-popping .383 with 18 hits, six doubles and seven RBI over his alst 11 games.


Cardinals' Carlos Martinez allows one run in no-decision Saturday

(5:10 pm ET) Cardinals right-hander Carlos Martinez was solid in his start against the Padres on Saturday. Martinez went 6 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on eight hits. He walked two and struck out five, but was left with a no-decision as the Cardinals weren't able to push across the go-ahead run until the eighth inning.

Martinez, who dropped his ERA to 2.70 on Saturday, allowed a fourth-inning solo home run to Yangervis Solarte for the only run the Padres would get on the afternoon. 

Martinez has been quite dominant over recent weeks. Saturday's outing was his 10th consecutive quality start, and he has 70 strikouts over that stretch.


Red Sox CF Mookie Betts gets two hits, three RBI in win

(5:09 pm ET) Red Sox center fielder Mookie Betts went 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBI in Saturday's win over the Astros.

Betts continued his recent offensive surge with his third consecutive multi-hit game. Over his last six games, Betts is hitting .429 with 12 hits, three doubles, a home run and seven RBI.


Astros SP Collin McHugh allows three runs in loss to Red Sox

(5:02 pm ET) Astros starting pitcher Collin McHugh didn't have his best stuff on Saturday against the Red Sox.

McHugh tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowed three earned runs on seven hits and picked up his fourth loss of the season. He allowed one run apiece in each of the first and second innings, and another in the fifth. McHugh struggled with giving up free bases as he walked three batters.

McHugh (9-4) ahs a 4.54 ERA with 85 strikeouts and 27 walks in 107 innings of work this season.


Blue Jays' R.A. Dickey loses third straight start

(5:00 pm ET) Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey lost to Detroit on Saturday, losing his third straight start and dropping to 3-9 on the year. 

Dickey gave up five runs on 11 hits, the most hits he's allowed in a start since May 30, 2013. He also gave up a home run, his fourth in the last six starts. 


Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz throws complete-game gem

(4:57 pm ET) Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz might have enjoyed his best start of the season on Saturday against the Astros.

Buchholz tossed a comple-game in which he was in command up until the very end. He allowed six hits and just one earned run, which came off a single that scored a runner from third base in the ninth inning.

Buchholz improved to 7-6 with the win. He now has a 3.27 ERA with 104 strikeouts and 23 walks in 110 innings this season.


David Price wins fourth straight for Tigers

(4:56 pm ET) Tigers starter David Price won his fourth decision in a row, Saturday against Toronto.

Price allowed one run on eight hits over seven innings. He's allowed zero or one runs in four of his last six starts.

Price struck out seven and walked one. He hasn't allowed more than one walk in the last five starts.

Price moved to 8-2 on the year.  


Yankees Mark Teixeira doubles, drives in run for Yankees

(4:50 pm ET) Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira doubled and drove in a run in the Yankees' win over Tampa on Saturday. 

Teixeira went 1 for 3 with a sacrifice fly. He hit his 16th homer and drove in his 59th run. He has six RBI in the last four games.
