Indians not ready to promote Francisco Lindor
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10:49 am ET) If Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera needs a stint on the disabled list due to a back injury, the team will not promote top prospect Francisco Lindor to replace him on the roster, according to The Plain Dealer. Lindor was just promoted to Triple-A Akron Monday.

Asdrubal Cabrera absent from lineup against Twins
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:48 am ET) An ailing back has Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera sidelined again Wednesday afternoon in Minnesota. Just-promoted Jose Ramirez is in the lineup instead.

Cabrera was removed from the game Monday with back spasms.

Scooter Gennett sits Wednesday after getting hurt Tuesday
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10:45 am ET) Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennett was held out of the starting lineup Wednesday vs. Cincinnati after leaving Tuesday's game due to tightness in his right quadriceps. Rickie Weeks drew the start at second base in Gennett's absence.

Jose Ramirez back up with Indians
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:43 am ET) Jose Ramirez is not the prime shortstop prospect for the Indians - that distinction belongs to Francisco Lindor. But Ramirez has already received a chance to display his wares at the big league level and has now gotten another with a promotion to Cleveland.

Ramirez could serve as the starter with Asdrubal Cabrera dealing with a back problem. He has been torrid with Triple-A Columbus, racking up seven hits in his last four games, including three doubles and a triple, to sweeten his stat line to .302/.360/.441.

T.J. House evicted from Cleveland, moving to Columbus
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:37 am ET) Left-hander T.J. House is apparently the odd man out in the Indians rotation. He has been demoted to Triple-A Columbus.

House has been unimpressive as a starter in the bigs this season. He is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA and has yielded 64 hits in 50 innings. He was doomed by his last two starts with six earned runs allowed on 14 hits and five walks in 9 2/3 innings.

Nolan Arenado blasts off for first time since May 5
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:32 am ET) Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has been struggling to hit for power since returning from a thumb injury, but he didn't struggle in the third inning of a Tuesday night loss to Washington.

Arenado slammed his first homer since May 5, a two-run job against Jordan Zimmermann. Despite the power outage, Arenado does have nine hits in his last eight games.

Adam LaRoche breaks slump with big game in Colorado
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:24 am ET) Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche continued his bounce-back season Tuesday night by playing hero in a victory at Colorado. He slugged a three-run homer in the seventh inning to break a 4-4 tie. The blast proved to be the game-winner.

LaRoche, who also singled, owns a solid .275/.381/.453. His fine game against the Rockies ended a 2-for-23 slide.

Chad Qualls retires Oakland 1-2-3 for another save
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:15 am ET) Astros closer Chad Qualls continued to shut down team after team Tuesday night in Oakland by nailing down his 11th save.

Qualls has just three saves since June 9, but only due to a lack of opportunity. He got the Athletics in order in the 12th inning, striking out Coco Crisp to end it.

Report: Asdrubal Cabrera not DL-bound
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10:01 am ET) Despite his absence again from the Indians lineup Tuesday, shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera is not yet destined for the disabled list with a back ailment, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, which is further reporting that prized prospect Francisco Lindor would not be promoted if he does land on the DL.

Cabrera left Monday's game with back spasms. His injury is poorly timed for himself and for the team, which could seek to trade him at the deadline. Cabrera is a free agent after this season and Cleveland will most assuredly not try to keep him.

Kyle Gibson out, Anthony Swarzak in as Wednesday starter
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(9:29 am ET) Twins starter Kyle Gibson has been scratched from his Wednesday start against visiting Cleveland due to back stiffness. Anthony Swarzak is set to move from the bullpen to replace him.

Swatzak has been a bit of a disappointment this season with a 4.34 ERA in 30 appearances. He posted a 2.91 ERA a year ago while working a major league-high 96 innings. The right-hander has been particularly poor against the Indians, who have battered him for five runs on nine hits in 1 2/3 innings in 2014.
