David Price strikes out eight in win vs. Indians
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:07 pm ET) Tigers pitcher David Price earned a win Monday, allowing one earned run on eight hits and two walks in seven innings while striking out eight in his team's 12-1 blowout victory over the Indians.

Price (13-10) watched his offense take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before giving back one run in the bottom half of the inning. He would cruise from that point on while the offense continued to hammer Indians pitcher. Price owns a 3.25 ERA and 232:32 K:BB ratio in 210 1/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Giants Saturday.

Luis Valbuena slugs 16th home run Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:04 pm ET) Cubs third baseman Luis Valbuena went 1 for 3 with a walk and a solo home run in his team's 4-2 win over the Brewers Monday.

Valbuena connected on a monster shot over the center field wall in the eighth inning to provide his team with a little breathing room. He has hit .246/.327/.447 with 16 home runs and 47 RBI in 403 at-bats.

Welington Castillo swats 11th home run Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8:02 pm ET) Cubs catcher Welington Castillo went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBI in his team's 4-2 win over the Brewers Monday.

Castillo put his team on the board with an RBI single in the second inning and followed it up with a two-run blast in the fourth. He was just 1 for 20 in his last six games before Monday's win. Castillo has hit .231/.291/.380 with 11 home runs and 37 RBI in 321 at-bats.

Gerardo Parra homers, collects three hits Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:59 pm ET) Brewers outfielder Gerardo Parra went 3 for 4 with a solo home run in his team's 4-2 loss to the Cubs Monday.

Parra hit the second of back-to-back home runs in the second inning, but it would be all the offense the Brewers could muster. He has hit .259/.307/.374 with eight home runs, 38 RBI and seven stolen bases in 455 at-bats.

Khris Davis swats 21st home run Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:56 pm ET) Brewers outfielder Khris Davis went 1 for 4 with a solo home run in his team's 4-2 loss to the Cubs.

Davis tried to help bring his team back from a three-run deficit by hitting the first of back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning, but the Brewers weren't able to do any more damage. Davis has hit .249/.307/.478 with 21 home runs and 66 RBI in 441 at-bats.

Kolten Wong slugs pinch-hit home run Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:51 pm ET) Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong slugged a two-run pinch-hit home run in Monday's 5-4 win over the Pirates.

Wong was cleared of a concussion before the game, but manager Mike Matheny didn't immediately stick him back in the lineup. That left Wong the opportunity to provide the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, and the bullpen locked down the final six outs to hand the Cardinals a win.

"My neck was killing me today," Wong told MLB.com after the game. "But there comes certain points in time when you have to man up. Today was definitely one of those days where I told myself I just needed to man up and put a good at-bat together."

Wong has hit .252/.293/.404 with 11 home runs, 37 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 337 at-bats.

Andrew McCutchen slugs 21st home run Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:47 pm ET) Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen went 2 for 5 with a solo home run in his team's 5-4 loss to the Cardinals Monday.

McCutchen put his team up 4-2 with his seventh-inning blast, but the Cardinals were able to cross the plate three times in the bottom of the seven to pull out a win. McCutchen owns a .308/.401/.539 line with 21 home runs, 72 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 458 at-bats.

Seth Maness picks up sixth win Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:43 pm ET) Cardinals pitcher Seth Maness retired the only batter he faced Monday, tossing two-thirds of a scoreless inning to pick up the win in his team's 5-4 victory over the Pirates.

Maness (6-3) entered the game with a man on first but watched the runner get caught attempting to steal second base. He then recorded a groundball out to end the seventh inning before the offense took the lead in the next frame. Maness owns a 3.03 ERA and 46:10 K:BB ratio in 68 1/3 innings.

Giancarlo Stanton swats 34th home run Monday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:40 pm ET) Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton went 1 for 4 with a walk and a solo home run in his team's 9-6 win over the Mets Monday.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7:38 pm ET) Mets infielder Dilson Herrera went 2 for 4 with a triple, a home run and three RBI in his team's 9-6 loss to the Marlins.

The two hits were his first for extra bases in his career. He's 4 for 10 since going 0 for 3 in his major-league debut Friday.
