Astros promote SP Michael Feliz from Double-A to majors
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1:14 pm ET) Pitching prospect Michael Feliz has made a major jump. He has been promoted by the Astros from Double-A Corpus Christi.

Feliz got into one game for Houston in late May and pitched a shutout inning against the White Sox. He crafted a 7-4 record and 2.84 ERA in the minors this season with 103 strikeouts in 111 1/3 innings.

Astros activate RF George Springer after two-month absence
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1:10 pm ET) As anticipated, the Astros have announced the activation of slugger George Springer from the disabled list. He had been sidelined for more than two months with a fractured wrist.

Springer is expected to be in the lineup Friday night against Minnesota. He returns with a slash line of .264/.365/.457 and 13 homers in 276 at-bats.

He was slumping before going down. Springer will return on a 4-for-33 slide.

OF Aaron Hicks, SP Logan Darnell set to join Twins
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:57 pm ET) The Twins have announced the activation of outfielder Aaron Hicks from the disabled list and the promotion of left-hander Logan Darnell from Triple-A Rochester.

Hicks spent the minimum amount of time on the DL with a strained hamstring. He will try to break a 3-for-30 skid upon his return.

Darnell has shined in the minors this season, and particularly since moving into a starting role. He is 5-1 with a 2.78 ERA.

Indians stating that SP Corey Kluber will pitch again in 2015
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:31 pm ET) The Indians are not taking a pessimistic view of the hamstring injury that has sidelined ace Corey Kluber. They are claiming that Kluber will pitch again this season despite reports that he could be out for the year, according to Associated Press.

Kluber injured his hamstring running in the outfield during the team's series in Toronto earlier in the week.

Hamstring injury could end season for Indians SP Corey Kluber
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:16 pm ET) Indians ace and reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber could lose the rest of the season to a hamstring injury, the Cleveland Plain Dealer has reported.

Kluber, who was scheduled to start Friday night in Detroit, sustained the injury while running in the outfield during the just-completed series in Toronto. He will miss at least one week, but could be done for the year.

The right-hander has been a victim of poor run support in 2015, but has also been a bit more inconsistent than he was in his breakthrough 2014 campaign. If he is indeed finished, he will end the year with an 8-13 record and a 3.41 ERA that is nearly a point higher than what he registered last season.

Padres SP Josh Johnson set to start rehab stint Friday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:06 pm ET) Padres starter Josh Johnson, who is coming off Tommy John surgery, will begin a rehab stint Friday with Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

If that appearance goes smoothly, Johnson will pitch another inning for the same team Monday.

Johnson has not pitched in a major league game since the summer of 2013. He has not completed a season without a major injury since 2012.

OF Brian Bogusevic promoted to Phillies
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:49 am ET) The Phillies have promoted outfielder Brian Bogusevic from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, per the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Bogusevic earned the trip by batting .296 with 12 home runs with the Iron Pigs. He owns a strong on-base percentage of .359.

Birth of child has Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt out Friday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:43 am ET) Diamondbacks slugger Paul Goldschmidt will miss a second straight game Friday to be with his family in Phoenix for the birth of his first child. He is expected to return Saturday for the second game of a series against the Cubs.

Goldschmidt is in a mini-slump with just five hits in his last 28 at-bats, though he has slugged two home runs over that stretch.

Yankees promote RP Nick Rumbelow
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:34 am ET) The Yankees have recalled reliever Nick Rumbelow from Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre to take the place on the roster of shelved first baseman Mark Teixeira.

Rumbelow was not down for long. He had been demoted on Aug. 26 after having pitched well in two stints with the Yankees. He owns a 2.79 ERA with nine strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings.

Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira finally lands on DL with leg injury
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:24 am ET) The Yankees could wait no longer for slugging first baseman Mark Teixeira to get healthy. They have announced that they have placed him on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 27.

A leg injury has prevented Teixeira from playing for more than a week and might have contributed to an 0-for-11 skid before he was removed from the lineup.

Teixeira had been enjoying a renaiassance year. He compiled a slash line of .255/.357/.548 with 31 home runs and 79 RBI in just 392 at-bats.
