Red Sox closer Koji Uehara records 19th save of the season

(6:00 pm ET) Red Sox closer Koji Uehara closed out the ninth inning of Sunday's matchup against the Astros in 13 pitches, giving him his 19th save of the season.

Uehara struck out two batters and didn't allow any hits. He has a 2.70 ERA this season.


Orioles starter Miguel Gonzalez shuts down White Sox

(5:59 pm ET) Orioles starter Miguel Gonzalez helped the Birds avert a sweep Sunday, tossing six solid innings in Baltimore's 9-1 win over the White Sox. 

Gonzalez allowed just four hits and one run, while striking out three. Over 96 pitches, he walked just one batter. The starter has been hit or miss over his last six starts, but Sunday he was on in improving to 7-5 on the season. 

It's only the third time in his last 10 starts that he has not allowed a home run, which helped lower his ERA to 3.87. 


Dodgers' Adrian Gonzalez leaves Sunday's game with hand injury

(5:58 pm ET) Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez was forced to leave Sunday's game after he was hit by a pitch in the hand during the first inning, reports TrueBlueLA.com. Gonzalez suffered a right hand contusion.

Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez fans eight in no-decision

(5:58 pm ET) Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez pitched well during Sunday's outing against the Astros.

Rodriguez allowed one earned run on six hits in five innings of work. He picked up a no-decision, but was impressive as he struck out eight batters and allowed just two walks. Rodriguez was only in trouble in the fourth inning when he allowed two hits, a walk and a run.

Rodriguez has impressed during his rookie campaing. He has a 3.69 ERA in 46 1/3 innings this season.


Greg Holland gets win in relief for Royals

(5:57 pm ET) Royals closer Greg Holland pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win over Minnesota on Sunday. 

Holland moved to 2-0 on the year with his first win since May 12. 


Twins' Blaine Boyer takes loss in relief

(5:51 pm ET) Twins reliever Blaine Boyer walked the only batter he faced and took the loss when he came around to score. 

Boyer lost his second straight decision and dropped to 2-4 on the year. 


White Sox SP Carlos Rodon sluggish in loss

(5:50 pm ET) White Sox starter Carlos Rodon had another shaky outing Sunday and paid for it with a loss as the Orioles prevailed 9-1. 

Rodon struggled with his pitch count for most of the outing, and wound up making it through just five innings after hitting 102 pitches. He gave up four runs, three earned, on just four hits, but he walked four batters while striking out seven. 

Over his last four starts, the youngster has given up 17 runs in 19 2/3 innings -- more than half of the 31 runs he's allowed in 13 appearances. 


Cardinals LF Matt Holliday hopes to return within the week

(5:50 pm ET) Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday will ramp up his rehab process as he hopes to return to the team within the week, MLB.com is reporting.

Holiday, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a quad injury, said he hopes to increase his running and agility work over the next few days as he hopes to return when the Cardinals face off against the Pirates in a weekend series from June 10 through June 12.

Holliday has been on the disabled list since June 9.


Caleb Joseph drives in three as Orioles cruise

(5:46 pm ET) Catcher Caleb Joseph had a big day at the plate for the Orioles on Sunday, driving in three to spark the team's 9-1 victory over the White Sox. 

Joseph had just one hit on the day, but his sixth-inning double to deep right-center broke open the game for the Birds. He then added another RBI in the seventh inning with an RBI groundout. 

Joseph's three RBIs were a season-high and equaled the amount of runs he drove in the entire month of June. 


Rangers' Derek Holland throws 30 pitches in bullpen session Sunday

(5:43 pm ET) Rangers pitcher Derek Holland was able to throw 30 pitches during a bullpen session, reports Fox Sports Southwest.

He is also scheduled to throw another session Tuesday and Thursday. Holland has not pitched since April because of a shoulder issue.
