Diamondbacks' Collmenter allows two earned runs against Cubs
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(9:43 am ET) Diamondbacks pitcher Josh Collmenter allowed two earned runs during Friday night's extra-inning game against the Cubs.

Collmenter struck out four batters and walked one during the five innings of work he put in. He gave up six hits, which matched the total he allowed in his previous start on May 17. Collmenter's performance Friday night was his best since an April 29 outing against the Rockies, when he went through eight innings without allowing a run. After Friday's game against the Cubs, he now has an ERA of 5.19.

After giving up 18 earned runs in his previous three games, Collmenter's game against the Cubs was a nice turnaround for the 29-year-old right-hander.

Collmenter's next start is scheduled for May 27 against the Cardinals.

Rangers' Tolleson was unavailable Friday after back-to-back saves
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9:39 am ET) Rangers reliever Ross Ohlendorf recorded his first career save Friday against the Yankees after reliever Shawn Tolleson picked up saves Wednesday and Thursday against the Red Sox. Tolleson needed 38 pitches to get through his two save chances against Boston, which is why he was unavailable Friday.

"More than anything else, Tolleson was down because he had pitched back-to-back games and we didn't want to use him a third game," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said, per MLB.com.

Tolleson and Ohlendorf have closed out games for the Rangers since Neftali Feliz was removed as closer following his third blown save last Saturday against the Indians.

Diamondbacks 1B Goldschmidt homers against Cubs
by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(9:37 am ET) Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt made good use of the extra rest he got on Thursday. The slugger, who sat out Thursday's game due to rest, went 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBI in his team's 5-4 win against the Cubs on Friday.

Goldschmidt tied the game with a two-run home run in the 10th inning off Cubs' closer Hector Rondon.

In 41 games, Goldschmidt is hitting .331/.429/.623 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI in 151 at-bats.

Indians 3B Lonnie Chisenhall sees average slump to .215
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9:34 am ET) Indians third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall's offensive struggles continued Friday against the Reds, as he went 0 for 5 with one strikeout during a 7-3 win. Chisenhall is now hitless in his last four games (11 at-bats) and has at least one strikeout in eight of his last 10 games.

Chisenhall has been in a slump for a few weeks. He is batting .132 (5 for 38) in his last 11 games (eight starts), which has dropped his season average from .250 to .215.

Cubs' Hector Rondon blows save against Diamondbacks
by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(9:30 am ET) Cubs closer Hector Rondon gave up two runs in the 10th inning to blow a save in his team's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks on Friday.

The hiccup was Rondon's third blown save of the season.

Rondon has nine saves while posting a 3.79 ERA and 18:5 K:BB ration in 21 innings this season.

X-rays negative on Red Sox LF Hanley Ramirez's left hand
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9:20 am ET) X-rays came back negative on Red Sox left fielder Hanley Ramirez's left hand after he left the game Friday in the top of the sixth inning due to soreness, per MLB.com. Ramirez was hit in the hand by a pitch in the fourth inning.

"We'll check on him when he comes in [Saturday], but after the hit by pitch, he had a difficult time gripping the bat and we had to get him out of there," Red Sox manager John Farrell said after Friday's 12-5 loss to the Angels.

The injuries are piling up for Ramirez, who has struggled since suffering a left shoulder sprain May 4. Since hurting his shoulder, Ramirez has a .212/.241/.269/.510 slash line in his last 13 games. Prior to getting hurt, he had a .283/.340/.609/.949 slash line in 25 games.

Rockies P Kyle Kendrick gives up 4 runs in loss
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(1:51 am ET) Rockies pitcher Kyle Kendrick allowed four earned runs in Friday night's 11-8 loss to the Giants.

Kendrick went 6 1/3 innings and struck out four batters while walking three.

Royals' Kendrys Morales drives in five runs during Friday's win
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(1:50 am ET) Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales provided all the offense that the Royals needed to defeat the Cardinals on Friday.

Morales drove in all five the team's runs Friday. He did it by hitting two home runs off Lance Lynn. Morales went 3 for 5 in the game to raise his average to .305.

Prior to his three-hit game Friday, Morales had been hitting .154 with no home runs over his last four games.

Giants' Ryan Vogelsong pitches 6 scoreless innings
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(1:47 am ET) Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong went six innings without allowing an earned run during Friday night's 11-8 win over the Rockies.

Even though his relievers gave up eight runs, Vogelsong was still able to get credit for the win thanks to some great run support from his offense. Vogelsong finished the game with five strikeouts and three walks.

Vogelsong gave up only two hits throughout the game. He now has a 4.60 ERA for the season.

Vogelsong's next start is now projected for May 27 against the Brewers.

Cardinals SP Lance Lynn receives loss during Friday's game
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(1:45 am ET) Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn received his fourth loss of the season during Friday's 5-0 loss to the Royals.

Lynn allowed five runs on 10 hits over six innings during the outing. He struck out four batters and walked one. He surrendered two home runs to Kendrys Morales.

Lynn has pitched at least six innings in his five last starts. Friday's loss broke his two-game winning streak. His next expected start is set for Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
