(9:50 pm ET) Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson hit a solo home run in Monday's win over the White Sox. 

Donaldson went 2 for 3 and scored three times. He walked once and hit his tenth home run of the season. He drove in his 29th run. 


Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton blasts 13th home run of the year

(9:49 pm ET) Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton went 2 for 4 at the plate in Miami's 4-2 loss to the Pirates on Monday. Stanton got things going early when he ripped an RBI single in the first off of Charlie Morton. 

Then in the third, Stanton blasted a solo home run to right field off of Morton, his 13th of the season. Stanton is now hitting .234 with 42 RBI in 171 at-bats this season.


Chris Colabello drives in two runs for Blue Jays

(9:47 pm ET) Blue Jays left fielder Chris Colabello drove in two runs in Monday's win over the White Sox.

Colabello went 1 for 4 and scored once, driving in his twelfth run of the year. Colabello has driven in runs in three of his last four games and has two RBI in two of the last four.  


Pirates 1B Pedro Alvarez blasts ninth home run of the season

(9:47 pm ET) Pirates first baseman Pedro Alvarez went 2 for 4 at the plate in Pittsburgh's 4-2 win over the Marlins on Monday. 

Alvarez did his damage in the sixth when he crushed a David Phelps pitch to left center field for a solo home run, his ninth of the season. Alvarez is now hitting .241 with 21 RBI in 133 at-bats this season.


Justin Smoak homers, drives in three in Blue Jays' win

(9:44 pm ET) Blue Jays first baseman Justin Smoak hit a two-run home run in Monday's win over the White Sox. 

Smoak homered for the first time since April 24. He went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs. He now has three homers and 11 RBI on the season. 


Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli blasts first home run of the year

(9:44 pm ET) Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli went a perfect 2 for 2 at the plate in Pittsburgh's 4-2 win over the Marlins on Monday.

Cervelli did his damage in the second inning when he ripped a three-run homer off of David Phelps over the right field wall, his first of the season. It was his first home run since August 13 of last year and just the 11th in his eight-year career.

Cervelli, who also walked once, is now hitting .316 with 13 RBI on the season.


Gordon Beckham, Melky Cabrera get hits for White Sox

(9:42 pm ET) The White Sox managed just four hits in Monday's shutout loss to Toronto. 

Third baseman Gordon Beckham went 1 for 4. Left fielder Melky Cabrera went 1 for 3. Avisail Garcia went 1 for 1, and Emilio Bonifacio went 1 for 3. 


Pirates closer Mark Melancon nails down 11th save of the season

(9:40 pm ET) Pirates closer Mark Melancon worked a perfect ninth inning in Pittsburgh's 4-2 win over the Marlins on Monday, earning his 11th save of the season.

Melancon needed just 13 pitches to get through the inning, forcing two groundball outs and one fly out. Melancon lowered his ERA to 3.00 in 21 innings of work. Melancon has not allowed a run in his last five appearances and just one in his last eight.


Marlins pitcher David Phelps tagged for eight hits in losing effort

(9:35 pm ET) Marlins pitcher David Phelps allowed four runs on eight hits in six innings of work in Miami's 4-2 loss to the Priates on Monday.

Phelps had issues in the second inning when with one out, he allowed three straight hits, including a three-run home run to Francisco Cervelli. Phelps then allowed a solo home run to Pedro Alvarez in the sixth inning.

Phelps, now 2-2, moved his ERA to 3.56 in 48 innings of work. He will look to bounce back on Sunday against the Mets.


Pirates pitcher Charlie Morton returns to rotation with win Monday

(9:34 pm ET) Pirates pitcher Charlie Morton allowed two runs on eight hits in seven innings of work in his season debut for Pittsburgh on Monday. Morton added three strikeouts and no walks in Pittsburgh's 4-2 win over the Marlins on Monday.

Morton had just two blemishes on his day. In the first, after allowing a leadoff single to Dee Gordon, he stole second and later scored on a Giancarlo Stanton single. Then in the third, Stanton blasted a solo home run. 

Morton, now 1-0, begins his year with a 2.57 ERA. He will look to keep things rolling on Saturday against the Padres.
