Rays P Chris Archer strikes out 8 in win

(1:27 am ET) Rays pitcher Chris Archer gave up only one earned run during Friday night's 5-2 win over the Athletics. 

Archer gave up his lone run in the fourth inning to Stephen Vogt on a solo home run. The Athletics were able to get six hits on Archer. Archer struck out eight batters while walking four. Archer now has an ERA of 2.40 this season. 

His next start is projected for May 27 against the Mariners. 


Dodgers OF Joc Pederson hits 11th home run of season Friday

(1:25 am ET) Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson smacked his 11th home run of the season to propel the Dodgers to a 2-1 win over the Padres on Friday.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Pederson hit a solo shot off Joaquin Benoit. He finished the game 2 for 4. Pederson is 8 for 40 with two home runs over his last 10 games.


Red Sox P Rick Porcello rocked in loss to Angels

(1:23 am ET) Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello allowed seven earned runs during Friday night's 12-5 loss to the Angels. 

Porcello was only able to go 4 1/3 innings, with his appearance in the fifth inning a particular disaster for him. Five of the nine runs that inning were credited to Porcello. Porcello struck out four batters while walking three. 

Porcello has now struck out 10 batters over the past two games. He now has an ERA of 5.07 this season. 

His next start is projected for May 27 against the Twins. 


Padres SP Andrew Cashner does allow an earned run Friday

(1:19 am ET) Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner surrendered one unearned run over six innings, but the run haunted the Padres as they fell 2-1 to the Dodgers on Friday.

Cashner (1-7) struck out three batters and walked one, but he received a no-decision for his effort. He lowered his ERA to 2.89.

Cashner has not given up more than four earned runs in six-consecutive starts. His next expected start is scheduled for Wednesday at the Los Angeles Angels.


Anges P Garrett Richards gives up 5 runs but gets win

(1:18 am ET) Angels pitcher Garrett Richards allowed five earned runs during Friday night's 12-5 win over the Red Sox. 

Richards didn't have the best game on the mound but was a beneficiary of a ton of run support from the Angels' offense. The Angels scored nine of their 12 runs in the fifth inning. Richards went six innings and struck out one batter while walking two. 

The five runs are the most Richards has allowed in a game this year. However, the win puts him at 4-2 for the season. He now holds a 2.98 ERA. 

Richards' next start is projected for May 27 against the Padres. 


Dodgers SP Zack Greinke receives no-decision in Friday's win

(1:15 am ET) Despite only allowing one run on six hits over 7 2/3 innings, Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke received a no-decision during Friday's 2-1 win over the Padres.

Greinke exited when the game was tied at 1-1. He struck out five batters and walked one during the outing.

Greinke has now pitched at least six innings and not given up more than three runs in all of his nine starts this season. His next expected start is scheduled for Wednesday against the Braves.


Mariners' Nelson Cruz hits HR in win over Blue Jays

(1:12 am ET) Mariners designated hitter Nelson Cruz hit his 17th home run of the season during Friday night's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays. 

Cruz went yard in the sixth inning on a solo shot. It's his second home run in the past four games. Cruz finished the game 2 for 4. He's now slashing .354/.414/.728. 


Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal suffers head injury Friday

(1:05 am ET) Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal was taken out of Friday's game against the Padres after he suffered a head injury, reports MLB.com.

After the game, manger Don Mattingly he was unsure if Grandal had suffered a concussion. He will be assessed Saturday for further evaluation, but he did pass concussion tests after a bat hit his mask.


Blue Jays P Marco Estrada's recent woes with walks continue

(1:02 am ET) Blue Jays pitcher Marco Estrada allowed four earned runs during Friday night's 4-3 loss to the Mariners. 

Estrada went seven innings and gave up six hits and three walks while walking five. Estrada has had some trouble with walking hitters of late. In his first seven starts he walked a total of five batters. 

However, in his past three he's surrendered nine walks. 

Estrada now holds an ERA of 3.90 for the season. 

His next start is projected for May 27 against the White Sox. 


Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez receives no-decision Friday

(12:59 am ET) Orioles pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez failed to get past the fourth inning during Friday's 8-5 win over the Marlins on Friday.

Jimenez allowed three runs on seven hits over four innings of work. He struck out four batters and walked one. Jimenez received a no-decision for his effort and his ERA now stands at 2.82.

Jimenez had pitched seven innings in each of his last two starts before only going four Friday. His next expected start is scheduled for Wednesday against the Astros.
