SP Tyler Wilson up with Orioles for likely Monday start
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:24 pm ET) The Orioles have promoted starting pitcher Tyler Wilson from Triple-A Norfolk. He will almost certainly start in place of injured Chris Tillman in Oakland on Monday, per MASNSports.com

Wilson pitched in five games for Baltimore earlier in the year and performed well, posting a 2.12 ERA despite just four strikeouts in 17 innings. He is 5-5 with a 3.05 ERA at the minor league level this season.

Rangers place P Tanner Scheppers on DL, promote P Phil Klein
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:18 pm ET) The Rangers have placed reliever Tanner Scheppers on the disabled list with knee inflammation, the Dallas Morning News has reported.

The move forced them to promote fellow pitcher Phil Klein from Triple-A Round Rock. He had been sent down Wednesday.

Scheppers has been scuffling recently. He has allowed 10 earned runs on 13 hits in his last 7 1/3 innings pitched.

Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez not in Sunday's lineup
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(12:15 pm ET) Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez was held out of Sunday's lineup at St. Louis, reports MLB.com.

Gonzalez was replaced in right field by Brandon Barnes, who will bat eighth. Gonzalez is hitting .419 with eight home runs and 17 RBI in his last 11 games.

Twins place SP Tommy Milone on DL with elbow problem
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12:12 pm ET) A flexor tendon issue has Twins starting pitcher Tommy Milone on the disabled list, per the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Milone has been terrible lately with 13 runs allowed on 20 hits in his last 14 2/3 innings. His 3.76 ERA is at its highest point since June 12.

Red Sox place struggling SP Rick Porcello on disabled list
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:59 am ET) Disappointing Red Sox starter Rick Porcello has been placed on the disabled list with soreness and inflammation in his triceps, per the Boston Herald.

The issue arose after his last start, but the team does not believe it be serious.

That last start was the latest poor one for Porcello, who has been a mess since signing a lucrative long-term deal with Boston in the offseason.

Porcello, who gave up five runs on 10 hits in that last performance, owns a 5-11 record and 5.81 ERA. He has yielded 138 hits in 114 2/3 innings.

His 1.44 WHIP ranks eighth-worst in the majors among qualifying starters.

Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett out of Sunday lineup
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:50 am ET) Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennett is set to sit Sunday against the visiting Cubs. He has started every game but one since July 19.

Gennett hasn't earned every-game status. He has just six hits in his last 34 at-bats with no multi-hit games since July 22. He owns a weak on-base percentage of .292.

Farrell: Red Sox CF Mookie Betts (concussion) much better
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:36 am ET) John Farrell has stated that Red Sox concussed outfielder Mookie Betts is feeling greatly improved and could resume baseball activities next weekend.

His "headache has disappeared (and there is) no dizziness," Farrell told the Providence Journal.

Betts has been sidelined since Tuesday.

Rangers OF Joey Gallo destined to stay in minors into September
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:31 am ET) Rangers general manager Jon Daniels has declared on MLB Network Radio that premier outfielder prospect Joey Gallo will not be promoted until at least September unless an injury forces the move.

Gallo got off to a blistering start in his June stint with Texas, but cooled considerably and was sent back down on a 6-for-39 slide and with a slash line of .218/.306/.448. He fanned 25 times in his last 12 games.

Scuffling Twins RF Torii Hunter set to sit Sunday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:26 am ET) Twins right fielder Torii Hunter is getting his second game off in the last five Sunday. He was also out Wednesday.

Hunter is batting just .150 (3-for-20) over his last five games and is hitless in his last two.

Ailing, slumping Mariners 1B Logan Morrison out again Sunday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11:22 am ET) Mariners first baseman Logan Morrison is still sidelined Sunday against Minnesota with a thumb injury.

Morrison, who had one at-bat Saturday, has not started since Wednesday. His other issue is production - he has not had a multi-hit game since June 15. His average has fallen from .261 to .220 during that stretch.
