by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(11:01 pm ET) Red Sox center fielder Mookie Betts had a nice night at the plate in a 12-6 win over the Blue Jays on Thursday. Betts went 3 for 6 with two RBI and a run scored. He also stole his 13th base of the season.

Betts singled and scored to start the game, and then singled in a run to close out the scoring of an eight-run first inning. He then had another RBI single in the seventh, and came around to score later in that frame.

Betts is batting .279 (12 for 43) over his last 10 games.

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(11:01 pm ET) Brewers shortstop Jean Segura went 3 for 5 with two RBI in Thursday's win over the Phillies.

The three-hit performance snapped a 0-for-14 streak at the plate for Segura over his last three games.

Blue Jays SP Matt Boyd endures nightmare outing on Thursday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(10:54 pm ET) Blue Jays rookie left-hander Matt Boyd had a horrific start on Thursday against the Red Sox. Boyd, who was making his second big-league start, failed to record an out in the first inning. He allowed seven runs on six hits and a walk, as the Red Sox won by a 12-6 score.

Boyd (0-1) gave up a two-run blast to David Ortiz, and then a solo shot to the very next batter, Hanley Ramirez. According to STATS.com, Boyd became the first American League starter to allow seven runs without recording an out since 1998.

The youngster had an impressive debut, allowing four runs in 6 2/3 innings to the Rangers on Saturday. But Thursday's outing was a nightmare, and his ERA--albeit a small sample size--increased to 14.85.

Phillies SP Chad Billingsley allows 10 hits, six earned runs
by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(10:51 pm ET) Phillies satrting pitcher Chad Billingsley was rocked on Thursday against the Brewers.

Billingsley (0-2) has a 7.71 ERA in 21 innings this season.

Red Sox SP Wade Miley issues seven walks, still gets win
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(10:49 pm ET) Red Sox left-hander Wade Miley picked up his eighth win of the season in the 12-6 victory over the Blue Jays on Thursday. Miley allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings of work. He struck out two and matched a career-high with seven walks. Still, he improved to 8-7 on the season.

Miley was staked to an early 8-0 lead in the first inning. But he gave half of those runs back in a four-run second inning.

Despite his underwhelming 4.53 ERA, Miley has been rather effective lately. He has won four of his last six starts, allowing more than three runs in two of those six outings.

Garza (4-10) has a 5.55 ERA with 68 strikeouts and 33 walks in 99 innings this season.
